I will be ordering a dress from Dressilyme for our vow renewal. We are going all out and I know that my mother wants to see me in a poufy gown. My husband feels that these pictures need to look different, so we will be dressed more formally than we did when we eloped. When my husband and I got married, he wore a suit and I wore a sleek and simple gown. This time, he is wearing a tux and I will be in a ballgown.
Which dress do the Bees like better? I have had two loved ones tell me that they prefer the second dress. I love them both and I can’t decide.
Please simply give your opinions on which dress you like better. It gets harder to follow a discussion when it is taken off topic.

I love the top of the first one but like the bottom of the second one. With that, I chose first one.

PositiveThinking: 2nd one! The first one looks too old timey southern belle to me.

I like them both but the 2nd one is very elegant with the lace so I like that 🙂

I love the top of the first one, but am not a fan of the fabric and pickups in the bottom. The second dress is pretty and I like the detail on the skirt. I vote for the 2nd dress 🙂

You’re right…it does have a southern belle vibe to it. That dress is like a mini version of the Gypsy wedding dresses. I do like the princessesy vibe though. I want a big skirt to balance my broad shoulders.

PositiveThinking: Have you tried on either in a store? I find wedding dresses impossible to pick from pictures on people who aren’t going to be the wearer.

Good point! I am so glad that you brought this up.
I have tried on dresses of a similar style in a store. The loved ones who weighed in were thinking of my voluptuous hourglass figure when they gave their opinions. I am a street size twelve with a curvy body. I still have ten pounds to lose in order to be at my goal weight.
Which dress do you like better?

It appears that the second dress is the most popular with my Bees.

PositiveThinking: I voted for dress #2 because I don’t like pick-ups (personal thing on my part, if you like pick-ups then go for it). If you are having the dress made and want the sparkle of dress one, you could request a skirt without pick-ups.
If you have an opportunity to try either dress on, that can make all the difference! 🙂

I love the top on the first but I don’t like the pickups, but it would look fabulous with a simple satiny poofy skirt. The bottom one, for me, says garden wedding.

You mentioned that you’re curvy, so something to keep in mind – the second dress is ruched across the bodice, which can help accentuate those curves! Ruching can visually pull the waist in, so it’s very flattering and shows everything off, in a good way. The first dress appears to be slightly more drop waisted, which looks great on taller women, but can be more challenging to wear if you’re more petite. I would try on a drop waist dress, and then one with a natural waist and see which one works better for your proportions.

Thanks so much! I like corset back gowns which also give me a nice shape. Natural waist gowns look better. I will be around 5’5-5’6 with shoes on.

I like the top of #1 and the flower thingies on the skirt of #2. Other than that, sorry, but I don’t like poofy skirts or lace. My gown was a-line (back in the age of dinosaurs – lol!)
