For those of you who have been following my dress drama, you know I’ve been through quite a search. I have plans to re-try on the La Sposa Detalle (see last post) on Monday, but if I still think it’s “too much dress”, I’m going to go with one of these other two dresses:
The first is a Simone Carvalli sample on sale from $2500 to $600 and fits me perfectly:
The second is a Jasmine Couture, which was discountinued 🙁 They are trying to see if they can (a) get Jasmine to cut a new dress or (b) let out the sample which is slightly too small on me:
Thanks so much for your feedback!

NOTE: The strap on the Simone Carvalli is detachable, so I’d wear it for the ceremony and take it off for the reception (or vice versa.)

I prefer the detailing and the bodice on the Jasmine dress.. 🙂

Both are beautiful, but I slightly prefer the Carvalli dress. I think it is more flattering and more detailed.
You look wonderful in both, so I don’t think you can make a wrong choice!

Sorry to be a downer, but I dont really think either of these dresses are particularly flattering. I know they’re probably ill-fitting samples, but I think you could do better…you have a cute figure under all that dress!

<—-what she said. You have an amazing figure that is being drowned by these gowns. I think you can get a more flattering dress. I vote to keep looking!!

I don’t like that the first dress looks layered and shelved top to bottom. That many horizontal stripes are just . . . Eh.

I agree with this as well.

Me too! Keep looking!
But if I had to choose between these two…. I pick #1

I think they are both just okay on you, but the first one is better. I’d be nervous about having a dress let out, especially one with horizontal pleating. You can’t just add in a panel with something like that.

I am not a fan of the way dress 2 looks from the side.. Dress 1 is my vote 🙂 How do you feel in them ?

Between these two, I prefer #1. It reminds me of the Wtoo Regina from a previous poll, but it is much more flattering on you. It also looks more expensive.
However, I don’t think you have found your dress yet. You have posted a lot of dresses lately but it doesn’t sound like any one dress has spoken to you. I would keep looking.

to those of you who have said “i think you could find a better style for your body”, what do you think that style is? i’ve tried on ball gowns and empire waists which, frankly, make me look a little pregnant/larger in the stomach area. i’ve found that modified a-line and drop waist dresses are the only styles that really emphasize my figure, plus i don’t want a super poofy dress as i’m having an outdoor rustic style wedding. i would love to get some suggestions on what i *should* be trying on to save myself from trying on 100+ dresses.
to be honest, i feel amazing in these dresses! i tried on the second one (the jasmine) a couple of months ago, but was convinced i wanted a lace dress. now that i’ve tried on a lot of lace dresses and haven’t found “the one”, i decided to go back to the store to try it on and was re-inspired for a whole different feel.
i think that’s what made me try on the carvalli dress, which i LOVE. it looks gorgeous sitting, standing, etc., the train isn’t too long, and i love the detachable one shoulder strap. not to mention that it fits great and has an internal corset so i don’t have to worry about pulling up my strapless dress all night.
basically, i like the material on the jasmine better but it is riskier because i’d either have to order it and wait for it to come in (my wedding is in july) or do some risky alterations (due to the paneling and the silk fabric.) i am not as in love with the fabric on the carvalli but i love the fit and the price and the fact that it needs minimal alterations.

Sorry! But if I HAD to pick one, it would be Simone because she is an excellent designer… I’m not crazy about the mid-section area on the Jasmine…
I can’t wear empire waists either. Did you try a drop waist in another dress with some boning and support? What’s your budget?
