I think the ballgown is more flattering in that it gives you more of a shape. The lace one is too covered up on top.

I think if you picture yourself in a ballgown then that is what you should get.

My best friend has ALWAYS wanted a lace dress. Now she is engaged and fell in love with a chiffon ballgown. It looked great on her and she really liked it. But she was open to trying other stores. Well earlier today b she bought her dream dress….a beautiful lace a line. Even though the chiffon ballgown looked fabulous on her, the lace dress is her dream and I am so happy she found it! You should follow your heart even though the lace is pretty on you.

@fiona8718:  If you’ve only tried ballgowns and the lace dress I say go shopping again and try to try on a bunch of different silhouettes. My perfect dress ended up being the last silhouette that I ever thought I’d want. It also helps with dress regret down the road because you can say you picked the best dress out there for you and don’t have to wonder what the other silhouettes look like on you.

@fiona8718:  Without the hoops and in your size, the ball gown might be much less overwhelming.  The  positive aspects of selecting the ball gown are that you always wanted one and that it is more dramatically different from the Asian gown.  (However, the lace gown still does not look like the other gown and will look even less like it with a veil.) The positive aspects of selecting the lace gown are that it looks like was made for your body and has a breathtaking train. I would base the decision on which gown makes you feel the most beautiful.

I think both are great choices, but if you are going to be wearing a more fitted asian dress, maybe go for the ball gown so that you have two different silhouettes.

You look great in everything. However the lace dress has a silhouette similar to the traditional Chinese dress. So since you are going to wear the traditional dress, which is more fitted, I think it would be great to wear a different silhouette like the ballground! Love the dresses!

If you’re having two weddings, why not have two dresses?

(Says the person who wonders why her wedding budget is blowing out LOL.)

A lace dress for the country club US wedding, and a ballgown for the hotel Asian wedding (plus the red dress, which is absolutely stunning BTW).

You may be able to afford two if you get one or both of them pre-owned, or get a replica.

The reason I say this is that I think you’re dreaming of a ball gown, but on the other hand it might be a bit too much for your country club wedding (may get in the way and be difficult to wear outdoors for an extended period, especially if it is heavy). Also, the silhouette of the lace dress looks freaking awesome on you.

Despite me saying that you should choose both dresses, though, my actual vote is for “keep looking”.

With your delicate features I think the ballgown and the top of the lace dress are overwhelming you. I think you should definitely look for more ballgowns, especially those with natural waists, but I think you’d look better in something that isn’t as obviously heavy and structured. I think you’d look goot in a ballroom with a tulle skirt, or maybe a fairly unadorned taffeta or silk in  light fabric without pleats or bulk.

With the lace dress, I really love the neckline and especially the back – the keyhole is just gorgeous – but I think the heaviness of the lace adds too much bulk around your shoulders. I think you should choose the same style in a more delicate lace, more like an illusion neckline, or one with narrower straps. Otherwise, it’s perfect.

I love the ball gown! But I’m a ball gown kind of girl.

I’m not a huge fan of ball gowns. You have a killer figure and the lace one looks amazing!! remember it will look even better after fittings!!
