@thelastbumblebee: I’m 5 1″ tall and a US size 6 (8 in my wedding dress) I went with a goddess style dress but I really like A Line dresses to they are very flattering just don’t do anything puffy since your so small you will look lost in your dress. I chose white and I am SUPER pale it looks fine on me and I actually think it brings out the beauty of pale skin. My dress is a sweet heart top and makes me look like I have a bigger chest (I”m a 34 C) but I used to be a 38 DDD before I lost weight so I feel like I have TINY boobs.

How about a champagne color, sheath style wedding dress? I think champagne will warm up your skin tone and a sheath style dress won’t overwhelm your petite frame. Is there a particular “look” you’re going for? Maybe we can help by posting pictures if you give us a little more details on the type of “look” you’re going for.

i’d shoot for something in ivory – aline or something more form fitting (ballgowns, though beautiful, dont do much for us who are short i’m 5’3) – and corset back if you want some lift! – i personally prefer zippers but the corest will def help in keeping the girls lifted to create more in that area.

@thelastbumblebee: I’m going to disagree here!  Floor length dresses make us petite ladies (I’m 5’1″) look taller, IMO, as long as the skirt isn’t too huge and poofy. Skirts that cut off mid-calf make our legs look shorter.

In general, I think a floor-length sheath or slim A-line would look really wonderful!

@thelastbumblebee: I agree, I think that the thing when you’re so petite is that you either have to go long like mightywombat mentioned, or go short (knee length or above). I think you can totally do something like this:

I think the main thing with shorter dresses and a petite figure is to just not go too “poufy”  to avoid looking like a big cottonball!

I’m only 151cm (I guess that’s 4’11”) and a UK8/10. I wear lots of dresses and I know which styles are more flattering for the vertically-challenged, haha.

Go for natural waist or empire waist…not drop waists. Dress lengths should hit the knee or to the ground. Dresses that cut mid-calf will make you appear shorter. Proportion is very important! A-line styles are most flattering I think.
