Hi guys. So I have known as long as SO and I started talking about getting engaged that I want an emerald cut ring with a super delicate halo. I have always loved the one on Blue Nile, but they recently updated the style and it looks a little chunkier to me. I don’t think I like it as much, but I also think I might be insane because it is still pretty delicate. I found a halo SET on Shane Co. that seems more delicate and also has a little more diamond detailing.. they have said I can order it with just the ring, and it will probably end up being $500 less than BN anyway. The BN ring has a 1.7mm band width, Shane Co. is 1.5mm. I also want a SUPER tiny wedding band, like even smaller than the e-ring, and I’m kind of worried it will be TOO thin if it has to be thinnner than 1.5mm. Another plus with Shane Co. would be that i’m not limited to BNs inventory when it comes to buying the diamond. What do you think I should ask for?

Imagine without the band!

Blue Nile.. In my opinion. I bought a wedding band from them, I loved the customer service, etc. Also, I like the prongs better on the Blue Nile ring.. And .2mm is something you aren’t going to notice.

Love, love, love Emerald cuts!!! They’re both really delicate looking. But like the PP, I prefer the prongs on the BN ring.

Hahah i love that people are picking my 3rd option!
What is it about the prongs? That they seem set high on the Shane one?
Also, I know .2mm won’t make that big of a difference in the band. I’m more concerned about the halo in general..I want it to be super petite and delicate so it highlights the center, not takes it over! I’ve just seen some halos in REAL ring pictures that seem kind of chunky when it comes to the halo/center ratio.

@jessicadarling: I vote for Shane Co. I can comment on their quality, customer service etc. Which are fantastic btw. Plus their warranty literally cant be beat. I also think the Shane Co ring from the side looks better. My rings have very similar pave on them and they are amazing. The sparkle is crazy. Hope this helps!

@jessandnick: I really do like the detailing and extra row of diamonds under the halo on the Shane one! I asked, and they said the diamonds will be G-H, so it seems like a better deal than BN too. I have loved the BN ring forever though, so I’m definitely torn! There is a Shane Co where I live though, so it would be nice to have somewhere HERE to go if I had any trouble.

I would always choose BN (or another reputable online vendor) over Shane co. Their quality seems much less to me than most high quality online vendors. I think you will get more value for your money that way.

I voted for BN, but have you checked out Adiamor? We were going to get a BN ring, but didn’t like their customer service or selection. Adiamor was Amazing! My ring is actually based off a Blue Nile setting because I didn’t like Adiamor’s pave as much, and it is soo much better than I imagnied. I went with pave at the last minute, but had the same reservations about chunkiness- Adiamor did not diappoint.
However, since they made it from scratch, it took about 3 weeks after placing the order to get it.

The blue Nile one looks softer to me and I like that.

@VivienMarcheline: I’ve looked at adiamor before! They dont have any diamonds that match the specs I’m looking for right now but I’ll keep an eye out! After what you said I contacted the vendor of one of the diamonds I have been looking at, and showed them the blue Nile setting.. They told me they could easily replicate it and also make the halo more delicate like I want. their jewelers were gone for the day but I should get a quote tomorrow! Thanks for the idea!

They’re BOTH gorgeous. Personally I like dealing with a store I can walk in and isn’t BN online only? That’s personal preference for me, though.
I have to say I can’t see the side view of the BN ring but those little diamonds around the halo on the Shane ring are so pretty! I love that you still have a little “bling” even if you’re looking at it from the side.
Either way I don’t think you can go wrong here!!!
