Is it possible to see pictures of the different sizes? Also is 16k for a ring reasonably affordable for you? If money is no object I would go bigger, but personally we could not afford to spend 16k on a ring. So I wasn’t sure how to vote!

dxnyc :  0.84 is what I’d go for but damn not for that price. I’d suggest finding a local well known jeweler that offers custom rings and lifetime cleaning.

The philly location is super relaxed! Highly suggest it.

I agree with PP that it really depends on your budget. If 12,000 is in your budgest I’d go with the 0.72 F VVS2– not sure what each look like in person, but I dont think the 0.8 c is worth dishing out an additional $4,000 unless you can see that it is, in fact, bigger.

How can anyone else advise you to spend 5k or 16k on a rig without knowing you?

Pick what YOU like and what you can afford comfortably as a couple without worrying about what others think.

Tiffany is a rip off, do you care about having that brand name? You can get way more bang for your buck going through someone else. My husband found a diamond broker who will give us the same value if we upgrade eventually. My diamond is quite a bit bigger than what you’ve listed and we spent less. Like $16k for less than a carat because it’s tiffany?

You can definitely spend less on a better diamond, but if you care about the name then I’d go big or go home.

futuremrs2020 :  I agree with you just for the name the price is nuts

But I think you missed the point they want to use them as they believe they are the most reputable

I didn’t miss the point… there are literally tons of reputable places other than Tiffany.

I voted .7 but only because I don’t think the extra .1 carat is worth the extra cash. I wouldn’t pay that much for any of those, though. I’d rather have something custom and a nicer diamond for the same cost

I voted for the .72 carat,  and agree with you on all your Tiffany points, about them being reputable, and having a great experience. My budget for a ring was about $12-$15,000 so we could have gotten a Tiffany’s ring that was well under 1ct however we opted for blue nile and I got a 1.7 carat, so it definitly is personal preference, and I would never tell someone not to get Tiffany’s like alot of other people are, as you’ve already decided on it!

But like another poster suggested, would you go the second hand route? You have the name, and garuntee of tiffany’s but at a fraction of the price. For example:

    This is $8,000 for a .71 H Colour VVS1, worth a thought!

    or:

$9,900 .84 G VVS1 with the wedding band as well!

It’s your money if you want to pay a 253% markup.

futuremrs2020 :  I agree bee. With diamond prices already outrageously inflated there is no reason to go with Tiffany IMO. There are plenty of incredible small business jewelers with access to high quality diamonds and settings

Yes, Tiffany is reputable and yes, Tiffany is reliable but there are also others out there who are just as reliable and reputable who have the same high quality stones and setttings and do not charge nearly as much.

If you are buying because you want to attach that brand name to your ring then go for it, as long as you are aware as PPs have said, you could get a ring with all the same( or even better) specs for much less.

I would not pay $16000 for under a carat just to have Tiffany’s. And that perception of Tiffany’s reputation? They messed up my friend’s ring when she sent it to get fixed and they destroyed her ring. She had to get a brand new ring. It was a horrific experience for her and turned me off them completely.
