I am going to Sephora soon to buy my makeup for my wedding. My cousin is doing my hair and makeup for the big day. I have rosacea and basically need really full coverage for the wedding (note: I don’t use it on a daily basis). I have MAC foundation that I’ve used in my trials and was fairly impressed. My question is, is Makeup Forever foundation better? It’s a bit pricey so I’d just like to hear some feedback before going to Sephora. I know they will test it on me but I’d just like to hear you guys’ feedback first!

Bumping because I want to know too!

I don’t know if one is better than the other…I have makeup forever mat velvet and it turned out great for my e-pics. It’s pretty full coverage but you don’t need to use a lot so one bottle lasts a while. I love MAC shadow and have heard good things about their foundation but haven’t tried it personally.

I prefer Make Up For Ever – I have both the High Def and the Mat Velvet + foundations, and they give great coverage. The High Def looks really great in photos. MAC has some good foundations, but all but one tend to break me out horribly so I don’t have as much experience w/ those. I also like Dior Forever and Hourglass foundations. You can go to Sephora, get matched up, and then ask for a sample. The samples I’ve gotten before have been generous – and if you only need it for your foundation, I don’t suggest buying a full size foundation that you’ll never use again (for me it’s worth it b/c I’m a makeup junkie).

I vote for MUFE…. a lot of MAC foundations have SPF in them which can create a whitish cast to your face.

Thanks! I’m making my list right now, and on it is also primer. I think I should get a green tinted one for color correction, and nearly passed out when I saw how much Smashbox primer costs!

I think if you’re trying to cover up rosacea then you should probably with Cover Fx. From everything I have heard it’s supposed to be the best for that.
Here is the link to their section on rosacea
I have both MAC and MUFE and I prefer MUFE just because it doesn’t dry out my skin as much.

@inkedbride: The Smashbox Green Color Correct Primer is totally worth it! The bottle lasts forever. Sometimes I don’t even put foundation on over it–I just put on the primer and call it day. I love it!

I’m a mua and i would go with MUF but with the amount you would be spending makeup might i also suggest looking for an airbrush makeup artist. I use airbrush and it has worked on every type of skin ailment imagineable and the brides end up looking flawless for their big day. I know some MUAs charge quite a bit but you can find some reasonably priced new MUA’s at your local department store cosmetics counter. That’s how i got my start years ago. Price also depends on where you’re located. Hope this helps!

MUFE Matte Vevet photographs AMAZINGLY. Like, better than it looks on your face in person. I don’t know how skin with rosacea would react to it. It hides redness well, but tends to hopelessly cling to any bit of skin of your face. I love it, but I have oily acne prone skin. I’ve also found that MUFE matches my very pale skin tone much better, all of the MAC shades I’ve tried (only in concealers, mind you) have always showed up orangey. Get some samples from Sephora and your MAC counter and try them both. Make sure to photograph them in different lighting conditions!

Thanks for all the tips everyone! I think I need to have an all-out Sephorafest this weekend!
