- Wedding: August 2010
So, I am doing our wedding on a budget, but I am trying to figure out what will be nice Bridesmaid or Best Man gift for the ladies.
I will have either 5 or 6 BMs (drama-don’t ask). I am trying to minimize their costs, so am asking them to just wear black cocktail dresses and purple heels. I am giving them all a brooch to wear for the ceremony to try to tie everything together.
I had initially planned on doing a bag of some sort, but decided not to do a hodge podge of things. This decision was made AFTER I had already purchased all this mud from the dead sea (yes, MUD!) during a trip to Israel that I had planned to give them. I was thinking of still giving them that, plus a gift certificate to a spa in LA that I am hoping for us all to go to the day before the wedding. It would be a $35 gift cert which is enough to pay for a spa manicure w/ paraffin – or they can put it towards any other service they want. I’m starting to think that maybe not be the best idea, since its a small-ish spa, and it may be hard to make sure all of our services are together & we wouldn’t be spending a lot of time together anyway since we would all be separate getting treatments. Plus, I know I will probably get MORE treatments, and will take more time. I am thinking it may be better to just go by myself or with one friend– esp. since we will be having the rehearsal and dinner later that day.
So, another thing I had thought of is these pearl earrings from Blue Nile.
They are $45 each, but are 10% off until tomorrow. That is a little bit more than I wanted to spend, but still not TOO expensive. I am hesitant to get jewelry because I know some of the girls are kind of snobbish (think mostly Tiffany and David Yurman), but this seems like a nice, not cheap-looking item that will probably be a little bit different from what they already have (and the less snobby girls will really love them).
What do you think? Good idea that will please the masses? Stick with the spa? Find something a little less expensive? The 10% off deal is quickly coming to an end — unless someone has additional coupons to Blue Nile that they would like to share!! — so I need to make a decision quickly, even though the wedding is not until August.
