I don’t know why I’m having so much trouble making this decision! I have rewards points from Amtrak (all those years taking the train to visit my now-fiance!) and I want to use them for a gift card. The options are in the poll. My goal is to choose something I can use for the most people for Christmas.
There are more options available than are on the poll, in case anyone is wondering about Amtrak Guest Rewards! They’re pretty great. =)

Do you shop at any of these places on a regulat basis? Or do you have something specific you can think of that you could get at any of these places?

@JenGirl: I was thinking CVS would be good for general supplies, but it’s not really Christmassy. Obviously I shop there a lot — it’s CVS! But again, it’s not necessarily for Christmas.
$100 to Macy’s would be nice, but I’m not sure what I could get for Christmas presents there…I don’t have anyone who likes clothing to shop for. I’d end up using it on myself to buy a Chirp serving bowl or something…
$100 to Staples would be awesome!!!!!! because I love school supplies. But that’s for students, and again wouldn’t be for Christmas.
Then $100 to Regal Entertainment might actually be the best, since my three nieces will be at Christmas this year, and we could all go to the movies. That might be the best.
TJ Maxx is also an option, which might be good for presents…

I think TJ Maxx would likely be the best for presents (though it’s not on the poll), followed by Regal Entertainment, like you said. I like Macy’s as well, but unless you want to get someone a bigger, nicer present, it doesn’t really work for a lot of people.

@bat: That’s what I was thinking. I wish they had Amazon! They have Barnes and Noble, but I shop at my local bookstore for books.

I voted for CVS, you can definitely get the most of the $100. And you would be surprised how many gifts you can put together. They have frames, spa gift sets, toys for kids, books, as seen on tv, ornaments, and of course litte stuff you can make baskets out of or even stuff stockings. Plus the wrapping paper, cards, bows, holiday candy etc you always need.
If that didn’t work I would pick Macys. They have a bunch of gift things but the $100 can be gone fast unless you go on a big sale day with coupons then might be able to get a few.

@peachacid: TJ Maxx…definitely!!

Go with TJ Maxx! A $100 gift card would go a long way there for Christmas presents. They have scarves, purses, bath and body items, hair products, pictures, housewares, clothes, iPhone/iPod accessories, jerseys, and the list goes on. You’re almost guaranteed to get a lot of presents there for a great price.

Okay — I did $50 to Macys and $100 to TJ Maxx (I had more points than I realized!). Phew.
I just want to say how awesome this rewards program is…I opened a credit card through Chase two years ago, and after my first purchase was given 30,000 points. I also got two points for every dollar spent on Amtrak, and one point for each dollar spent on other stuff. That’s a lot of points! I’ve been using them in bits to do things like stay at certain hotels, but then I wanted to use them for gift cards. The options were: Maggiano’s, Red Lobster, Olive Garden, and a bunch of other chain restaurants like those, Barnes n Noble, TJ Maxx, Macys, Regal Entertainment, AMC Entertainment, Pottery Barn, CVS, Stapesl, a place called American Ways or something, and a few others. Very useful and awesome. =)

when i lived in the states my mom, my best friend and i always talked abotu how much freakin money we spent at CVS… i’d go for that.

Honestly, I would chose Regal Entertainment. I would rather have a gift card that allows me to do fun things with my SO than just get something at a store. I am all about experience over … stuff.

I voted CVS. Like another bee said, you’d get a lot more for the money… as opposed to like two things at Macy’s.
