I like Camilla. Janessa sounds like you liked the name Vanessa but wanted to be “unique” so you misspelled it on purpose.

I prefer Camilla, but there’s no reason why you can’t keep both until you meet a (potential) daughter! I didn’t find out sex ahead of time, so we went in with a top 2-3 for each and finalized on the day.

I prefer Camilla as a whole.

I used to work with a Janessa and did not like her (nobody did)! I still remember her/this name after all of these years haha.

Definitely Camilla, Janessa sounds like a name the Duggar’s would have made up. Sorry.

I wouldn’t worry about possible nicknames (unless they’re vulgar or rude of course). My mind doesn’t go to Cam for Camilla. If anything I would think Milly. Either way, as a parent you can insist that people use her full name if they try to shorten it. For example, my name is Amanda and for years when I was younger people would try to call me Mandy, which I hated. I immediately would put a stop to it and say ” No, it’s Amanda”. I don’t remember my parents stopping other people, but as a kid, I knew I wanted to be called by my full name.

My lovely mother in law is Camilla. She goes by Cami sometimes but I think Milly is a reasonable nickname as well.

I think Camilla is lovely and classic. It’s not super common but it’s still a traditional name in a standard spelling. Janessa I don’t care for at all, and it’s much less “classic” in that I’d very surprised if this name existed before the mid-20th c.

My niece’s name is Camilla. We call her Cami, she loves it. I went to school with a Janessa and she was not my cup of tea.
