Janessa to me sounds like a celebrity hybrid name people would invent if someone called Joe was with someone called Vanessa. Like Brangelina.

Camilla actually I like Camiela (Cah Meal E uh ) better. Janessa sounds confusing. Like Janice and Vanessa mixed.

buzzerbeater :  Camilla sounds smart, chic and cool. It’s classic but fresh and suits both young and old, and works worldwide. Janessa just does…not.

I guess that all names were “made up” at some point, but there are literally thousands of established names. What counts to me as a made up name is something that when typed into a baby name finder comes back as blank, not found, or “created name.” Janessa counts as one of those names with no meaning and no history. It strikes me as a parent trying to make up something speshul for their child.

I actually rather like the name Camilla as a variation on Camille.

I voted Camilla. My friend’s daughter is Camilla and they call her Cami or Mila which I think are both cute. Cam sounds so blunt and short to me.

Can you have Janessa as middle name instead? “Camilla Janessa”

Camilia is pretty. Janessa sounds made up.

Camilla makes me think of an old lady – specifically Prince Charles’ wife. I like Janessa. It’s not weird to me because a friend’s sister named her daughter Janessa over 25 years ago so I’m used to it. Always thought it was a cool name.

buzzerbeater :  The Camilla I knew went by Cami, although Milly could work.

Edit: Just read one of your responses. Why not go with Camille instead? It’s only 2 syllables, so it’s less likely to be shortened.

I’m also southern and my association to the name Janessa makes me think podunk backcountry girl. Like her brothers are probably Jamyson and Jayden.

ETA: I don’t mean that harshly so I’m sorry!!
