DH and I are not really agreeing on a girl name. He like Aliya and I’m not in love with it. I think it is cute but just reminds me of the girl on Teen Mom that has the twins. Our boy name is Raphael (DH’s middle name and also a family name) I’m thinking maybe Raphaela? I need some input Bees

@MarryMeTiffany: eeeeeeeeeek…i really am not into rapheala to be 100% honest but at the same time if Aliya reminds you of “teen mom” I think that’s reason enough to throw it out! Haha…they ruin everything.
Maybe if you tell us your other daughters names we would have a better idea? You might want to try something that won’t clash with theirs too much. I have a friend named lily, her sisters names are molly, zoe, and kaisha (cage-a). I have always thought it was weird.

I don’t care for the name Raphaela. Just name her Desirée after me. 😉
Serious note though – I think Aliya is cute. Names will always be associated with something/someone no matter what you do.

I prefer the name Aliya in this case.

If you’re not in agreement on either, I say keep looking! Eventually you will figure out the perfect name that you both love. 🙂
However, of those two names, I prefer Aliya.

What if you spelled it Alia? That’s how they pronounce it “Al-lee-ya” in a science fiction series I love 🙂

@MarryMeTiffany: I know I’m in the minority here, but I personally like Raphaela

Not a huge fan of either but I would definitely go with Aliya between the two.

At first glance Raphaela reminds me of Rapunzel and I’m not really a fan, so in this case I’d go with Aliya (:

I don’t mind Aliya but it kind of sounds like my own name (Alicia) so I wouldn’t use it myself. I think you should “save” Raphael for any potential boys. If you’ve definitely ruled out that possibility and like the sound of the name, I work with a rachaela (ra-KAY-la) and always thought it sounded kind of cool.

my first thought was in favor of aliya, but after considering it, raphaela is still pretty and would be really unique. better yet, i think you could get some cute nicknames out of it.

I’m suprised more people didn’t vote for Raphaela. Its clearly the superior choice! Lol. But seriously, I think Raphaela is super cute & unique. But the good kind of unique, it doesn’t sound like one of those crazy made-up names, but it surely won’t be the name of half of the other kids on the playground.

When I read Raphaela I instantly thought of the Ninja Turtles….sorry child of the 80’s.
I much prefer Aliya but if you can’t agree I say keep looking until something comes that you both love.
