I’m on a budget so when it comes to my accessories, there’s not much money to work with. I decided to try to DIY a hair flower which, to be honest, I wasn’t loving before yesterday. I had planned to order one on Etsy but the shop didn’t get back to me in time for my trial so I decided to use the DIY one just to give me an idea of what it would look like. Now that I see it with my hair done, I’m sorta liking it but now I’m not sure which to go with.
The Etsy flower is burnt orange (matches the Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses) and gorgeous but will also require me to actually pay for it. It will end up being like $15 after shipping which really isn’t very much but at this stage in the game, I’m trying to be budget concious. The DIY flower cost me about $10 to make after a few initial hiccups so combine the two and we’re already hovering around $30 (aka. much more than I had planned to spend on this). I absolutely love the burnt orange flower since I desperately wanted some kind of color in my bridal ensamble but I’m just wondering if it’s worth it.
If you were me, which would you choose?

The one you made is awesome, but I love the orange so I’d spring for it.

First off, your dress looks fabulous on you! And the flower, I know I said I loved it in your hair trail pics… and I totally do. But I really like the burnt orange one, too. So, I’m noooo help. Actually that’s a pretty damn good price for Etsy, I’ve seen people pay a heck of a lot more money ($50-$100). Do you have a flower girl? Could she wear your DIY flower perhaps?

@Mrs.Firefly1: Thanks! Yea, the price is great and really, what’s $15? It’s like a stop at Starbucks when ya think about it. I think I’m going to end up ordering it anyway and trying both. I could probably sell it after if I really wanted to. And nope, no Flower Girl.

@UpstateCait: The dress color does make a difference when you had us select 1. I LOVE YOUR DIY one it complements the dress, the burnt orange is pretty but would appear to be out of place. Like you ran out of time, or lost your real head piece and just stuck something on your hair and headed down the aisle.
Wear your DIY one its beautiful, now if you like the burnt orange one than just add a diamond stud or pin in yours and viola.

I think your DIY flower is perfect! Do you think on your wedding day you are going to regret not having the burnt orange flower? If not having the Etsy one is going to stress you out, I say go ahead and buy it. But the one you made is awesome and I would love telling people that I made the accessory myself.

@ebet24: You make a great point. I do love showing off the stuff I make! =) And no, I don’t think it would stress me out. I just always envisioned myself having something colorful and after exhausting my search for burnt orange shoes, I turned my attention to hair pieces. Maybe my crazy colorful bouquet will do the trick!
