I have had a chi forever and I like it a lot. Recently I got a babyliss – it’s baby blue. my hairdresser gave it to me and it is what he uses in his work. I like it even more because it has adjustable heat, allowing it to get a lot hotter than the CHI, even though I only use it at half heat. I have really curly hair, so it’ really helps.

Drugstore- I had a Remington Wet 2 Straight iron for years and I loved it. It worked great and the price was great. Somewhere around $25.

Sephora- I was gifted a giftcard from Sephora nd I bought the Tokidoki Black Lametta Flat Iron. I love this thing, you set the desired temp (it is degrees rather than settings 1-10) I also love that it is small so you can curl with it. It is originally $89 but it is on sale for $59. The website is out of the black one so I copied the picture of the pink.

Also, I don’t know if you use one or not but I highly recommend using a heat protectant. I use Tresemme Heat protecting Tamer Hair Spray, I bought it at the drugstore for less than $7. People say that it is a doup to CHI’s heat protectant.

I use wet to straight too! Works good! I use it because its fast and you can use it on wet and dry hair. Oh and I have Mexican long thick hair.

@Mrs.LetsGoPens: I just bought this straightener because my SIL has it and I LOVE it! I know it isnt going to last me as long as my Chi did (my Chi lasted about 2 years and just konked out) but I it works really well (especially wet to straight which is much healthier for your hair than blow drying then straightening) and it was so cheap!

AMIKA! Oh man. We did an experiment a couple weeks ago. I used my friends Amika on one side of my hair and her roommate’s CHI on the other. The Amika one kicked the CHIs ass.

I was just thinking about finally investing in a good straightner as well. So thanks for this thread!

@Gerbera: I guess my hair would be classified as straight. If I let it air dry it is wavy/kinky and never actually straight. I also have a ton of hair so if I just blow dry it takes me a good 20+ minutes and then straightening after that. The wet 2 straight takes me 10-15 minutes with my hair being almost soaking wet to completely dry. My hair looks a million times better after using just the straightener as opposed to blow drying first then straightening. The wet2straight holds in the moisture more.

@PitBulLover:

Thanks! My hair is similar. If it dries naturally -which is 99% of the time- it goes everywhere. It’s straight but not completely straight with flyaways. 🙁

If I had a better, wider straighter I might use it more often.

I use Chi. They are the best! Bought it from Amazon.com. Beauty supply stores should carry them as well.

In my opinion, GHD straighteners are MUCH better than CHI! I used to swear by CHI but I started to have a lot of problems and had to keep sending it back. I’ve had my GHD for about 3 1/2 years and it still works like new.

I have a GHD straightener and it is AWESOME. So much better than my old Chi which would burn hair ocassionally.   They have both at Sephora so you could always get both and test it out.  They have a fantastic return policy, so you can always return the one you don’t like.
