Um….neither. Orchids are delicate. Does she have pets? I’m big on “no plants!” because i have cats that would nom them. I think some chocolates or something like that are good…cookies? mmm edible goodies in the shape of umbrellas?

I like the orchid but I know for myself it would be dead not too long after I received it.  So if they’re good with plants I think that’s cute.  The umbrella seems like a weird gift…like socks or something.

I’m so sorry, but I’m not crazy about either.  Orchids are lovely, but delicate as the othe poster pointed out and the umbrella, I’m just not excited about.  What about a lovely picture frame, pretty candle holders, or a yummy smelling candle?  I think your price range is fine, I’m just not crazy about either.  That said, you know the hostesses and if you feel that they would like the gift, then go for it!!!!

I think Orchids are a great idea for people who are nature lovers or not allergic to flowers! However if they aren’t you miaybe want to think of something else. Being on a budget is hard and squeezing ever penny is a must. You need something that they’ll absolutely use that isn’t expensive since there are 5 of them! I think if they’ve already done so much for you then they’re throwing you a shower because they love you, not what they get out of it. Get them something simple and handy.

As for the umbrellas I also found these for cheaper if you like them.

Target $16.99 there are different colors on the handles to chose from.

The next is from online at ebay. There are 5 different colors if you wanted to do a different for each person.

I think I posted this in another thread but my daughter and I found tons of rough ceramic tile at a salvage yard for 25 cents each.  We are stenciling the first letter of each hostess’ name on on each with a script stencil, spraying them with a clear finish and putting felt dots on the bottom.  We are going to wrap them up in groups of four and tie them with a ribbon to be used as coasters for each hostess.  All told, we will have about $1.50 in each gift.  We’ve seen them in stores for $20!  I think that they will be something that will be used other than thrown away and of course, we are going to make ourselves some!

For a shower hostess gift, I think the umbrella is adorable. I know I would LOVE to get a cute one like that. Umbrellas are something I always get on the cheap – I have very boring ones. Getting a cute one would be fun 🙂 That’s my vote.

I really like the umbrella idea. I know it might be super cheezy but I like the idea of sending them a little umbrella and some shower gel, etc as a thank you. It’s cute.

I got fun chocolates for mine, knowing that they would either eat or share them. I like the shower me with love bit and would have done that had I had more time. I was planning to get the some nice organic soap and a loofa but my shower was 2 days after Christmas and a suprise (kind of).

I also took a Bee idea and did a Thank you for…

…showering me with love (bath gel) $8

…lighting up my day (candle) $5

    …being so sweet (candy) $2

    in a Target $1 aisle gift bag = $16 a hostess

Go on bathandbodyworks.com and buy from the clearance section. Check out retailmenot.com for coupon codes for bath and body and see if you can get free shipping.

The hostesses seemed to really like them, and there’s a little something in there for everyone.

(p.s. I love orchids but looks like I’m in the minority.)

I like the orchid!  For my hostesses, I’m getting them shower stuff — making them each their own lavender scented moisturizing/exfoliating sugar scrub, plus lavender body butter and shower gel.
