I knew a Leila growing up, hers is “Lee-la”.

Layla because the y looks nice.  Also, as PPs have pointed out, Leila might be mispronounced as lee-la, and Laila can be mispronounced as lie-la.

What pronunciation are you going for? I read Leila as Lee la even though that’s the spelling I like best. If you want LAY la, I’d go for one of the other two.

I can’t help but think any name with a “y” in the middle sounds trendy!

I like “Leila” because it looks the best and also resembles Princess Leia.

“Layla” is the easiest to pronounce but not as elegant. “Laila” might be mispronounced “LIE-la”.

Later in life, your daughter might have a phase of wanting to change the pronunciation of her name to “lay-EE-lah”, which is possible with “Leila”, and that’s a nice name, too.

    I like Layla.

I’ve actually known a Leila that was pronounced lee-la, so that’s what I hear when I see it.

I think Leila is the most elegant of the three, but Layla is the most common spelling of the name. Personally, I much prefer Leila.
