I would use the C.  But I’m latina and that’s a legit word in Spanish, so my vote may be skewed.

Well…my name is Cara so I’m biased in my thinking, lol. I’ve had Starbucks people write down Karen, Carol, and even call my name out “Sara” before though, so who knows. But my name is butchered FAR less than many friends I have. And in general I think “softer” letters are nicer (I prefer Catherine over Kathryn too, for instance, K just seems harsh to me…)

Honestly, this is one of those names that could go either way. I don’t think either one is necessarily “right” or traditional. Choose the one your like best.

Either way, there will be people spelling it incorrectly all the time. I have a name that can be spelled with a C or a K – and while mine is “traditionally” spelled with a C (and mine is), people are still always spelling it with a K.

I’d write Kara. If I saw the name Cara I’d pronounce it “car-uh”

Every person I’ve known with that name has spelled it Kara, so that’s what I prefer.

I don’t think there is one standard.  I voted “Cara” because I like that spelling and that is how I would spell it.  It can be either.  Neither is more common or “right.”

I have a somewhat common name and it is similar, but completely different from another less common name and people still will call me that or spell my name that way.  I think people just go with what they are used to.

    I’d default to Kara.

But I think those two spellings are pretty similar in “common-ness”.

I didn’t vote because I honestly couldn’t decide what is more “standard.”  In your scenario, I’d probably ask “Is that with a C or a K?” 🙂 I think either would seem “normal” if you know what I mean.
