Hey ladies! A few weeks ago, I posted about how Darling Husband and I want to take one more big trip before TTC in the next year or so. Both of us will be graduating from grad school next year, so we thought it would be the perfect time. Here is that post:
Anyway, the results were pretty even. We were really leaning towards Africa, but I just don’t think we’ll be able to make it work within our budget. So, we decided Europe is just more excessible so we’ll go there. However, neither of us could decide on where to visit, we want to go to them all!!! So, Darling Husband (who is a huge soccer fan) came up with an idea. We would go to whichever country won the Euro Cup this summer. I do not particularly care for soccer, so I think this was his way of getting me into watching it. 😉 Now, it’s down to the top 8 teams. I need to pick a team to root for. But since I know nothing abou soccer, it’s so hard! So I figured I would root for the country I want to visit next year. But… I really don’t have a preference! Haha The only preference is not Greece because we have been there.
So, which is your favorite? Or, which would you most want to visit?

You don’t have it there: my favourite is Sweden!

I’ve been to Europe a bunch. German is my FAVORITE because towns like Munich and Berlin blend history, art, and modern amenities in to big cities. Switzerland is great for a relaxing vacation. France is lovely if you want a lot to do but you cannot see it all in two weeks time. Sweden is great for culture and the friendly people. England is nice if you are looking for an easy vacation close to what you’d get here in the US and Canada. Italy can get crowded, but there are a ton of hidden gems. Greece is not where I would go right now with all the uprisings, but it’s great for a beach vacation. Spain is my FI’s favorite, I think mainly for food and nightlife choices. Czech is great, but there is only one touristy town and I wouldn’t want to be out too late at night or go if I wasn’t white (to be honest).

You don’t have Scotland, so I can’t vote! :-p

Do I have a fellow Swedish bee on here!? 🙂

I went to Spain and Italy a few years ago, with the impression that Italy would far surpass my expectations, but y’know, Spain kinda’ did it! Italy is gorgeous and we had an amazing time, but Spain was FUN. It had a good vibe to it, and I’d go back in a heartbeat!

@MrsJoyful80: Are you swedish??????????? I am not swedish but I just LOVE Sweden!!!!!!!!!!!! The place is beautiful, the people even more!
Where are you from?
Yep, I am Swedish! From Uppsala!
(Moved to Germany when I was 21 and now I live in the States!)
Feel free to send me a PM!

@MrsJoyful80: Uppsala always reminds me of the Girl with a Dragon Tattoo books now 🙂 I bet it is gorgeous!
I have only been to two countries in Europe (I need to travel more!), but my favorite thus far is Spain. But I only went to Rome in Italy, and I was able to do Madrid, Toledo, and Bilbao in Spain. SO pretty, and delicious food!

I’m biased. I’ve lived in Spain for nearly 6 years!

I voted for Italy b/c each city is so different from each other, but I just wanted to address the post that said Greece may not be a good to travel right now b/c we had a good experience. We just returned from our European Honeymoon last week and Athens seemed pretty safe. Granted we did see riot cops in front of Parliament while waiting for the bus but no one was actually rioting. The islands in Greece are gorgeous and everyone in Greece was pretty friendly and understood English for the most part.

Well I think you will probably be visiting Spain or Italy judging by what’s happening….

@allihappy: Out of those two I’d go for Italy. Spain is a bit more unstable at the moment.

@ohmybears48: Oh wow! Love how you summed all the countries up… Nice!!
@SpecialSundae: Aww, I am sorry! 🙂 They aren’t in the Euro Cup 😉 But if we went to England, visiting Scotland would probably happen as well!
@cobalt21: I would love to see Sweden! For voting sake I just put the countries that made it to the final rounds of the Euro Cup, but side trips are definitely an option 🙂
@sarahbabs: I think Darling Husband is definitely rooting for Spain… I’ve only heard great things!
@Demarca11: I’ve always wanted to go to Italy! Darling Husband has been, but that’s OK! And we also went to Greece for our honeymoon last summer. Glad you loved it!
@allihappy: Haha… That is FINE with me!! 🙂

I looked up the beaches in Portugal when we were planning the Honeymoon. We didn’t decide on Portugal, but I definitely want to go someday. It looks beautiful from what I saw!
