Hey Bees —
I need your vote on whether my BMs should wear the J. Crew chiffon or taffeta line of dresses (in navy). I am going to let them pick the style once I decide the fabric. I’m not sure which of them goes better with my dress and the style of the wedding. I tend to think the taffeta, but I’m not 100%. I think I like the chiffon navy better than the taffeta navy, but I like the taffeta styles and fabric a little more. Two of my Bridesmaid or Best Man have said they prefer the chiffon to the taffeta but in general everyone said they can find a style they like for any of the fabrics.
Examples of Chiffon:
Examples of taffeta:
The wedding is going to be outside in San Diego in the fall. Our theme is preppy/nautical; colors are navy and green with splashes of pink.
The groom/groomsmen will be in something along these lines (but w/different ties):
I will be in this:
What do you think?

My girls are wearing chiffon because we are doing a soft rustic vintage theme. I think the structure the taffeta offers lends itself to the look you are going for.

@NavyBride2013: my BMs wore J. Crew — different dresses all in the dark purple chiffon fabric. They are gorgeous dresses and all my girls looked great! so I’m obviously biased, haha, but i can vouch for the chiffon ones 🙂

I also think that the taffeta ones are more the look you are going for! I am using the chiffon in dusty shale for our vintage whimsical wedding!

I’m not a fan of taffeta and think chiffon looks much nicer!!!
Love your dress:)

I think the taffeta will go more with the material and style of your dress. But they all look beautiful! So you can’t really go wrong. 🙂

I think that taffeta suits your look too! It’s stiffer and would definitely match your dress better 🙂 I’m kind of considering the same question for mine!

To be honest never been a fan of Taffeta fabric… it is stiff, wrinkles badly, can be uncomfortable to wear… and at times doesn’t look chic at all.
Chiffon moves well… and can look great from morning to night which is what you need at a Wedding.
Certainly would be my choice.
Hope this helps,

I would always pick chiffon over pretty much any bridesmaids dress fabric.

@NavyBride2013: I own both of the dresses in the chiffon and taffeta, each for different weddings. I think the taffeta would be the best for what you are looking for. I also felt the taffeta was more flattering for my body

I love chiffon for bridesmaids dresses, I think it’s so soft and feminine, and I love how well it flows. I chose Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses for my girls that were similar to the third picture of the chiffon dresses, and they look great and are very flattering on all of the girls.

I always say chiffon. However, I love the taffeta dresses shown!

The taffeta goes with your dress the best.

the tafetta goes well with your dress but chiffon is more comfortable.

I think the taffeta goes more with the look and feel you’re going for, and I really find silk taffeta to be much more flattering to my body. I also love the cut of the taffeta dresses.
