I love them both, but voted chiffon.

I love them both, but I’d do chiffon.  My wedding is more on the formal side (FI and Groomsmen will be in tuxes) and the BMs are wearing long chiffon dresses.  It’s just so flowy and pretty.  My dress is satin, like yours.

But, they are both gorgeous!  So I think either would be great.

You can’t go wrong! Both are lovely! If they are okay with wearing either maybe find out which one each would pick in both and then see which palette of dresses you like more.

I think taffeta goes more with your theme.

Chiffon is more flowy, comfortable, and flattering than taffeta.  I’m not a fan of taffeta, personally.  Stiff and oftentimes unflattering.

While I think chiffon generally is more flattering on a wider range of body types, I think the taffeta styles are beautiful and will work better with your theme.  Plus, I’ve always been told that you want your bridesmaids’ dresses to compliment your dress by being of a similar fabric…with that in mind, the taffeta will look better next to your dress.

I wore one of the taffeta bridesmaid dresses from J. Crew when I was in a wedding. It was really stiff, wrinkled when you just looked at it and was unflattering. I wore a chiffon dress for another wedding I was in and loved it. Go for the chiffon, it’s so much more flattering and comfortable. I would wear it again, but not the taffeta one.

I LOVE J crew’s taffeta dresses! I think it will go better with your theme and dress. Do you have a J crew store near you that has bridal dresses? I know only a select few do, but since you’re in SoCal there might be one? It may help you to have your girls try each on.

@NavyBride2013:  Taffeta is WAY more preppy than chiffon. I think a lot of the Bees voting for chiffon simply don’t like taffeta. Seriously though, taffeta suits your vision much better.

@NavyBride2013:  I voted chiffon – I just received swatches from Jcrew this week of both fabrics and much prefer the chiffon – I think either would work beautifully with your theme though!

on a side note, i freaking LOVE YOUR DRESS! Where is it from??

Everyone LOOOOVES chiffon, but it falls so awkwardly on most people.  I would have your girls try the dresses on (there are JCrew stores around the country where this is possible) and see which looks better.  If you can’t do this at JCrew, go to a regular bridesmaid store and try on both fabrics.

I prefer chiffon because I like how flowy and comfortable it is, but I do think the taffeta will go better with your dress.

Chiffon all the way! If they’re paying that much for a dress they should be able to wear it again, and no one ever chooses to wear taffeta outside weddings!
