I’d probably go for the steak, but I’d need more info on both.

What sauces are they in, what are the sides, how is the steak prepared, etc?

I would be curious to know more details about each dish.

i’m not much of a fan of steak, so i always go with chicken (or fish, if it’s offered). also, people have a tendency to be pickier about how their steak is prepared (i’m picky about beef in general) and are usually unhappy with it, so i think even if i was a steak eater, i’d still go with chicken.

not sure what those comprise of…I love steak, but I get worried when it’s called something fancy…..so I might go with chicken

    The vegetarian option, please.

At weddings like this, I usually just sweetly ask the server if I can have a double side of the mashed potatoes and green beans (or whatever) and grin and bear it – I know vegetarians shouldn’t expect to be catered to. That said, I’m always really grateful to considerate couples who do make sure to include a veggie option on their menus.

@Blanche:  Agreed. I think I can eat overcooked chicken a hell of a lot easier than I can eat overcooked steak, and let’s face it, wedding food TENDS to be overcooked.

Oddly enough though, this weekend we went to a (very, very expensive) wedding and the steaks were cooked to perfection while I could have worn my halibut as a shoe. So I guess you never know!

I’d probably go for the chicken because FI would get the steak…and then we’d end up trading.
