I’m 38 weeks pregnant with a baby girl who we have decided to call Adelaide.
We are torn between two names and would really appreciate your opinion as to which sounds better.
1) Adelaide Rose
2) Adelaide Grace
Our surname ends with the letter A if that matters, Thanks In Advance x

(I like the name you’ve chosen, but I wouldn’t personally choose the initials AA)

I think Rose flows better.

I like Rose. It flows nicer, and I prefer it.

Well first of all, congratulations on the baby, yay a baby girl !
I like Adelaide Grace best, but Adelaide Rose is lovely too.

thepinkflamingo : Congratulations!! We also named our daughter Adelaide! I like the flow of Adelaide Rose over Adelaide Grace.

Adelaide Rose flows nicer in my opinion but both are super pretty names.

I like them both, but would prefer Grace. It’s a slightly more defined sound to it to minimize the sibilant at the end so will hold its own better against a last name beginning in a vowel (whereas Rose would have a tendency to blend in with the next word if that word begins in a vowel – think of words like Rosalie, Rosacea, Rosario). It’s a very minor complaint though since it’s just the middle name. I have a first name that ends in a sibilant and a married last name that begins with one; I’m forever overly enunciating them so you can tell it’s two separate words.

I prefer Grace over Rose, but Rose flows better.

throughthelookingglass87 : Thank you for that, I probably should of just said our surname as it’s super common.
It would be Adelaide Rose Andrews which I think doesn’t sound too bad?

singingbee5 : I love the name so much and it’s not super common either which is nice.
What middle name did you pick?

Definitely Rose 🙂 Grace has the long “a” sound that is like the end of the name Adelaide and it just sounds super odd to me.
