caraleena :  You can always upgrade! But I understand, I am going with moissinate for similar reasons and I just plain love the stone. Best of luck!

caraleena :  I decided on a fancy cut by The True Gem because I don’t have danity hands and wanted finger coverage; my ring (if I ever get it! I know he has it tongue-out) is set with an 9×7.5mm old mine cushion (OMC). Here is a link to the instagram post that helped me choose the cut I wanted, to me it was very helpful. We also purchased the ring from the same company, The True Gem, and it is their line of moissinate.

caraleena :  I have a brilliant cut but it’s an oval. However I have seen all of them. People in general will just think you have a really good quality diamond, it’s only here that people obsess so much over it. I’ve turned a few friends onto it here in US where I think it’s slightly more prevelent (but still practically unknown) unless you happen to run into one of the “got hates moissanite” “sim wearers are scum” people from this forum, who track our rings and activities for inconsistency, in real life nobody will think anything of it. I’ve only gotten positive reactions when I’ve told my friends (though I do have a pretty ethically conscious friend group many of whom have opted not to buy sounds despite having plenty of money to do so). You will get more rainbow from a radient but it’s so beautiful. The rainbow is oly in certain lights too when it’s in normal indoor lighting it sparkles but it’s really only clear white when I go outside in the sun or in jeweler lights thats when I see rainbows. I see rainbows under those conditions with diamonds too though. In fact my moissy performed pretty much the same as my mom’s really high quality diamond when we were at the laike in the sunshine (her is round and mine is oval so you would expect a round to perform better had mine been a round I’m sure it would have been more fiery).

caraleena :  I got mine from MoissaniteCO, they have mixed reviews but my ring is lovely so no complaints, I absolutely love it.  Last time I got it cleaned it tested as a diamond.  It sparkles like crazy, in some lighting you do see color reflection, but that also happens with real diamonds. If a trained jewelrer can’t tell it’s not a real diamond- no one else will be able to tell either, trust me. I really couldn’t justify spending such an absurd amount of money for a real diamond, when this particular Moissanite is just as strong and beautiful.  This is my ring.

OP, (I’m not Caraleena but I’ll answer too) before Moissanite was created, the testers jumped from diamond down to the next level of hardness, which correct me here people if I’m wrong but I believe it was Sapphire.  So, the older testers only needed to “know” if it tested above the hardness of sapphire, it has to be diamond as there wasn’t anything in between.  So Moissy tests as diamond on the old testers, because it is above Sapphire, and lower than diamond.  The tester just “thinks” it has to be diamond.  I think I have those facts right…….

There are now moissy testers, that will show if it’s moissy or diamond……hope that makes sense!

Love my moissys – probably more than my nice diamonds. They are beautiful and strong – but I am not deathly afraid when I wear them.

caraleena :  The center stone is 2 carats.  I also ordered the matching band and then took the rings  to a jeweler and had them welded together so they stay in place (the weld is done on the inside back of the ring).  I’ve heard of Moissanites testing as diamonds before, not sure why.  All I know is everyone thinks it’s a diamond.

bostonbride89 :  That is beautiful! I already have my ring and got the stone from Harro but yours is gorgeous. What type of cushion cut is that? It seems to have a lot more facets than usual.
