i am a huge fan of shellac, so i know for sure i am going that route. but i am torn between the classic french manicure, or a more neutral color. i feel like the french manicure is becoming a bit outdated, but i’m worried nude nails are just a trend. if it matters, my dress is champagne colored and lace. what do you guys think?

Out of the two, I like the nude better. It seems more neutral and match anything you change into later.

I’m always a fan of French! I think it’s just such a classic look!

A fancy French manicure like this

Yep- you can’t go wrong with the french! The other looks a bit too plain.

You can never go wrong with nude! It’s classic.

Oh crud I’m sorry made it a tie on you.

I like American manicures. They seem to be more a more muted version of the French manicure – not such a huge division between white and nude. I think they look more natural but still classy and polished.

I went with the ‘American manicure’ which is basically a French with a not so shocking white tips. It looks more natural in a sense.

I tend to think french looks very dated/80’s in most cases…sometimes, I like it, but I’m not a fan of the pic you posted above. I’d go with the nude if I were chosing between french and nude. I plan on doing a dark color for my nails on my wedding-maybe a plum or deep burgandy (fall wedding).
ETA-I wanted to show a comparison of a good (IMO) french mani and a cheesy one-
I think the 2nd one looks seriously cheesy, but the first is ok.

French over nude- but if it was a different color nude. To me it looks too white, how about a fleshy/nude? I love some sparkly too.

Personally I think french manicures look really dated. I’d go with nude or pale pink.

I don’t think french manicures are outdated at all! I think they’re timeless and classic, much like solitaire engagement rings! 🙂

The french manicure is classic and timeless. I think the nude could pull a more yellowy color. I know I’ll be going with a classic french manicure for my wedding!

What about a French with a sparkle here or there?
