I want to choose between two types of invites:
The first I made online with a template. I’d be paying around $100 in total for 50 invites and response cards. I like them b/c they stand out. I want them to stand out so people remember to come.
The second is a DIY kit from Michaels. Much, much, much, MUCH less expensive and it comes with invites, response cards, and thank you cards.
We want to save money but I don’t want to do that at the expense of guests not coming. I want the invite to stand out.
Which invite looks better? The first is written out with our info. The other is not b/c I have to go to the store to buy it and make them.
Thanks so much!!!!!!! 🙂
(AN EDIT TO THIS POST: I’M USING BLUE B/C THAT’S THE WEDDING COLOR, BUT DO I HAVE TO USE BLUE IN THE INVITES?)

The first one definitely looks better but my friend used a damask invite DIY kit from michaels that might have more of the look you are going for.
My friend made hers pop by having a purple monogram in the background of the invitation.
You could also add a teal ribbon to make it pop also!

I like the invitations that Future Mrs. Martin posted because it’s a combo of your two choices. I would see about using those from Michaels because it still stands out with the Damask and is close to your online template idea, but you still save the money!

I may be wrong, but I don’t think the look of the invitation is the deciding factor for attendance. Personally, I’d save the money; I do like Future Mrs. Martin’s suggestion. Either way, I hope those that you want there are able to attend!

I should have mentioned our wedding color is blue: that’s why I didn’t use the damask black and white. I did consider damask black and white.
What do you think…

The more I look at the black and white damask, and i just checked it out on the site, the more it’s growing on me.
There are a couple of Michaels out here. and I just got a 40% coupon for wedding items (tho i don’t know if that includes invites). I should get there asap before they sell out, this being wedding season…
Thanks Bees!!!!!!!! 🙂

I just mailed my invites this week, and I used the black and white damask print from Michaels. At first I wasn’t sure about them, but once I had them printed out I LOVED them. I have already gotten so many compliments. They also have programs to match that are really cute!

OK, this is funny. I went to a wedding about a year ago. Last night I was going through a box of papers that I still needed to unpack from our move to our new house which happened to be the same month as the wedding. Anyways, I found the invite from the wedding and opened it. I thought to myself “wow what a pretty invitation, I didn’t even remember this…huh…her wedding colors were blue?” Point being your guests aren’t going to notice or mind if your invites aren’t the same color as your wedding colors. I think brides over think these lil things because we get so caught up in matching everything….I know I’ve been guilty of it too :-S Get what you think is pretty, reflects your style, and fits in your budget. The ones Mrs martin posted I think would be a great compromise between the style you want and the budget.
