Crate and Barrel is great. So is Bed Bath and Beyond!

If you are doing it all online I would not suggest going with Macy’s.

We registered online with them because they carry Fiesta, and we had nothing but problems with them. Plus most of the stuff online is not in store and they limit you on what you can register for.

They screwed up our address so gifts got sent back. They cancel orders if the item is on backorder too long (‘too long’ being a week and a half), and their gift card system has been hacked into…we had a $200 gift card that when we went to use it…had been used all up about a month before we even opened our card with the g/c in it!!

I have a lovely letter drafted and ready to send to Macy’s.

BBB was WONDERFUL and I would register with them again in a heartbeat.

Are you talking about a universal registry, like Amazon, where you can register for all kinds of different things from all kinds of different places?  I’ve heard of Amazon doing this, but I can’t think of any others.  For some reason I feel like I remember @MissAsB doing this kind of registry, maybe she will see this thread or you can PM her.

PS – I’m a big Sur la Table fan, they’re fantastic!  Williams-Sonoma should watch out for them, if one had been near us we hands down would have registered for a million things there!

myregistry.com is a good one. I think you can put pretty much anything that has an online store on it.

I had an amazon.com registry with the universal option.  It was great for listing those things from all over that I didn’t really have enough to make a full registry.  We actually got quite a few items from it, because people could tell that if you went out of your way to add stuff to it, you must really want it.

We are using http://www.alternativegiftregistry.org and LOVE it so far! It is really excellent. We felt really boxed in with other stores and this is the very best alternative we could find. Everyone loves it so far and guests love the option to shop where they please! 🙂

Check it out and you won’t be sorry!

My fiance and I are using myregistry.com. So far, we love it! It’s a universal registry like Amazon, but you can also sync it up to traditional registries at their affiliate stores (C&B, Macy’s, Williams-Sonoma, Target, plus Amazon), and there’s a cash gift option so it can be a honeymoon registry too. It covers all bases and it’s easy to use. I highly recommend it. 🙂

MyRegistry.com!

It’s what we used and I loved it! 🙂

You can now sync with your Target, Macys, Amazon, Williams Sonoma, Crate & Barrel, Land of Nod (baby registry?) and The Land of Nod Registries.

And. They have a iPhone app with a handy scanner! hehe.

The only thing I didn’t like about it is that your guests do have to mark items as purchased. And many often forget to!

GL!

I’m doing Wishpot…it has a “reserve item” button to prevent doubling up of gifts. And a button you can add onto your browser. On my side, it’s been working great so far–but then, it’s still a while till my wedding/shower so I haven’t been able to hear how it has worked on the purchasing side.

@Miss Baker:

Nope. You actually have the option of also manually adding items from retail stores.

So for example, there is a Wholesale Sausage Making Warehouse near us that I manually added items from their retail store onto our MyRegistry. You can add the store name with address and phone # etc.

Or if you added something from say Crate and Barrel and they wanted to go to the store and buy it they can go on your MyRegistry and mark it as purchased w/o buying it from the website.
