Aruba for 8 days or some other caribbean island for a week. Resort on the beach.
Cruise (princess line) (room with balcony) out of new york – 10 days eastern caribbean. We would plan it so we would have a couple days to explore new york (we’re from Vegas – never been to new york)
So Which and Why?!?

I voted for Aruba or a Caribbean island resort just because personally I prefer that to a cruise, although my mom went on a cruise this summer – I think the princess line – and she had the time of her life. There is so much to do! Either way, you really can’t go wrong! 🙂

I picked the cruise and NY. I am going on my honeymoon in October and we are going on Royal Carribean to Bermuda. The money you save being on a cruise is ridiculous and there are so many things you can do! And if you have never been to NY then by all means you need to go!

Cruises are not for me so I chose the island.
Have you cruised before?

I chose the island because that’s what we’re doing. We’re going to Hawaii — I brought up going on a cruise and my future hubby was worried we wouldn’t truly get to explore the places the ship stops well enough. We wanted to really explore a place well. I like the idea of a cruise still but I agree with him…it’ll be nice to really get to know a place together and not feel rushed or like we’re missing something.

I chose island because cruises are not for me! But if you like cruises, then go for it since you will also get some extra days in New York!

@Alip22: have you cruised before? the reason i am asking is b/c a lot of people feel a bit whoozie on cruises. yes, there are things you can take but they may make you tired. i wouldn’t want to risk this if it was my honeymoon.
both sound wonderful though.

I love cruising & spending a couple days in NYC pre-cruise would be fun! 🙂

@Alip22: I was just at Aruba and I wasn’t that impressed. I think I’ve been on the cruise your talking about bahamas/Turks/VI/Puerto Rico, and really the best beach we went to was in the bahamas. Cruising is fun but you don’t really get to spend too much time at any one spot so it depends on your style.
Edit: The reason I wasn’t that impressed with Aruba is because it had really high winds on the beach all day, so I basically got free microdermabrasion. Also even though it’s tourist based, the service was really poor and we were staying at one of the really nice places.

I’ve been to Oahu, and Maui. We got to explore those places really well. The cruise would just be a longer vacation for us and we’d get to visit lots of different islands so we’d know which ones we’d like to go back to and spend more time. Our food would be taken care of, and I’ve never been on a cruise before. So I’m kind of leaning toward that option for those reasons. But I want to make sure it’s romantic/fun etc. I love really getting to know a place and exploring but we just cant choose a place/ they all look awesome and I want to go to a place we both have never been before/ avoid hurricanes/ have good snorkling.

I’ve only been on one cruise so I may not be the best at this, but I would say an island. although I enjoyed my cruise and will be cruising again, the rooms are teeny tiny, and there were SO MANY people. I’d prefer to be around fewer people on my honeymoon. Not saying that an island will be deserted, but I think it’d be more romantic and allow more opportunities for smaller crowds.

I love cruising and think it’s the most relaxing vacation ever!
PS go on the newest cruiseline you can afford. The newer ones are sooo much nicer and the rooms are bigger.

I love to cruise so I picked that option plus NY will be fun.

I loooove cruises! Yes, the rooms are small, but we were never in our room except to shower and sleep.

I voted for Aruba or a Caribbean island resort b/c I thought cruising to the Eastern Carribean from New York will take a few days. So your 10 day cruise will really be 4 days around the islands & 3 days each way to get there & back. Correct me if I’m way off on the timing. I did a cruise from Ft Lauderdale to Aruba once, which I think only took 1 day to get to and the ocean view gets boring if there’s no land to break it up.
