I actually like the first one better than the 2nd!

@leecy87:  The quality of work that Bri is putting out is far superior to the work Joanne is.  Joanne’s work is over saturated to the point some of her clients look orange, it looks as though some were shot close to sunset, but any decent photographer can fix the orange hue of the skin.  I would go with Bri, her work is consistant and she seems to have a good eye for important moments.

If you are set on picking one of those two I’d say definitely the first. The second is not good. White balance, nuclear Snooki skin tones, missed focus, too much Photoshop. The first is much better but there’s just always something about a free blog with ads on it that irks me. But that may just be a photographer thing!:)

I would be careful with #1. I hate it when a pricing page just screams ” I’m cheap”. I’d make sure to see a few wedding galleries she’s delivered to clients and make sure there aren’t any secrets lurking there like she can’t shoot receptions very well in dark rooms etc. Your best sales point should be ” book me, I rock” not ” I’m cheap, I’ll find a way to book you even if you have no money”. It makes me nervous when photographers sound desperate.

@Lashmont:  I agree that she should ask to see full albums, I completely disagree with your statement that her investment page screams “I’m cheap”. I do not get that at all. Perhaps you should re-read that page because she clearly thats that she doesn’t feel like a bride should have to sacrafice quality. Offering payment plans does not mean a photographer is cheap. Not too long ago many Bees were suggesting a bride look into doing a payment plan to get a good photographer.

If you read her FAQs page you’ll see that she explicitly claims to not be “cheap” and that unfortunately she can’t “find a way to book you even if you have no money.” For whatever reason your comments about her pricing page got under my skin and it made you sound very egotistical and negative. I feel like you really have to make a stretch to get that from her page.

    I voted for the first!

The second seems to really over-photoshop the majority the pictures she has on her site.

@Lashmont:  So because she is offering quality photos at a price that people can afford/willing to work with them means she’s cheap? I became a photographer because I love photography and I want people to have quality images to remember their special day.  I decided to venture into portraits and weddings (rather than my normal fine art/landscape photography) because I am seriously tired of people getting crap photographers just because they can’t afford one that’s $2000+ (I am in no way bashing people who pay or charge that much, my photographer is costing me over $2000).  I have professional equipment, I have a bachelor’s degree in photography and plan on pursuing my MFA in Photography, but this isn’t my main source of income, so I can afford to work with people so when they look at their images 5 years down the road they’re not kicking themselves because chose price over quality. Just because I don’t charge an arm and a leg/will set up a payment plan doesn’t mean I’m desperate, or want to book a lot of shoots, I genuinely care that they have good quality images.

@Thorns-n-Roses:  hey there. I’m sorry you feel that way. I review and critique websites for photographers as part of my business. My opinions come purely off the feeling I get as a reader.     It has nothing to do with ego or being negative or positive. I’m quite neutral. I have no personal interest in whether the OP books this photog or not. My aim in participating in this board is to give advice based on my knowledge and experience. She may not be cheap at all. I’m not making a comment on her price point at all.  My point is that as a reader, it comes off that way. It looks like she’s fairly new to wedding work so perhaps it’s just a desire to book.

@tphotog:  I applaud you for that. I really do. But you’re in the minority. When I do workshops and mentorships with photographers who have pricing pages that stress how much they are willing to accommodate on payment plans, pricing etc 9/10 times its because they are nervous that clients are not going to pay their prices. I have no idea what her pricing is but shes a talented girl and doesn’t need to go that route. For most business people this is our full time living and charging as much as we must for our time, service and product is the only way we can stay in business. Charging enough is a scary prospect for many newer photographers. If you’re in the position to shoot for less and that makes you happy that’s awesome.

I would go wih the first. The second is mainly advertising children on the front page so I would assume that is her niche and she does weddings because she can get paid to do them. The first also has a clean editing style which I personally prefer for weddings.
