I am in a bit of a dilemna here. Originally the budget was so tight we were in doubt as to what we could afford for photography. We went with the cheapest option we could find while remaining professional which is $500 for the digital photographs and no prints. No contract has been signed yet, it was supposed to be done in March but I said I would get back to her when I was in a better position to put down a deposit. Now that I have the cash to put down a deposit I am having second thoughts…
Her facebook page updated some of her recent work and the engagement pictures just seem poorly done. After reviewing many of her pictures they seem to be a poorer quality than what I originally thought. I find more flaws in each picture (that have been edited) than I would care to see in my pictures. Fiance and I are not very photogenic so we need a photographer who isn’t going to just let us not smile or have squinty eyes. I stumbled across this second photographer that is about double the price. I’ve been in contact and for what I am looking for it’ll be about $1500 and I get a bunch of prints with it. I did question some of the pictures that seem faded (which others are more vivid in colour) and she told me that it was the preference of the client, so if I don’t want that fading/lighting then it’ll be more like the vivid/colourful pictures.
I was just hoping for some feedback as to whether or not it seems worth it to go with this more expensive photographer, I need to make a decision very soon to make sure she can hold my date for me. Just generally looking over the pictures I see far less imperfections and flaws than with the first photographer but I want to make sure that I am not just seeing it through rose coloured glasses again.
