I love both places, especially the Firehouse! Their food is excellent. Imagine all the cool Old Sac photos you can get just steps away from the venue, too. I wonder if Evangeline’s will let you in to the costume mansion to take pictures.

That is a gorgeous area (envy).

I live in the area and I’ve been to both locations. I think #1 seems to suit the direction you are going in. Plus, if it’s warm enough the patio would be lovely!

We’re doing a restaurant venue too, so I understand from the uncertainty angle. I’m just trying to anticipate the high end of what the # might be, and we’ll probably put a cap on the bar (not to stop the drink provision, but to have them tell us when we reach it, so we know how much it will increase beyond what we thought).
Another thing.. not sure if this will work at your potential location, but the restaurant we chose is adjusting our drink prices based on what we choose to offer. We’re going to put together a beer/wine list and we’ll know per-drink-cost for each option. Liquor, etc, that the bar will have in stock will be available on a cash-basis. We did that both because we didn’t want to serve liquor, and also to minimize the “surprise” of the bar bill.

I love the firehouse. It’s breathtaking. The art museum may have too much of an echo for a big party.

The firehouse looks amazing! I personally would choose that, with the info that you provided.
