Hi bees! I need help picking between two rings. My grandmother left me her engagement ring (1/2 carat diamond pear solitare on a thin yellow gold band) when she passed away. For obvious reasons, it means so much to me. I’m just not sure it’s really my style.
The second ring is a 1.2 carat round diamond on a rose gold twist shank… It’s more my style, I’m just worried it looks too big on my hand.
Which do you prefer on my hand? I tried to do similar pictures although the lighting is slightly different. My finger is a size 6.75. I love both rings but for different reasons for them both. Is it extremely uncommon for someone to have two engagement rings they wear at different times? Could my grandmas ring maybe be a right hand ring or would that look odd?
Thank you for your help!

I think an heirloom as a right hand ring is perfect. Or consider resetting the pear into something more your style!

bclaytonsc : ooooo child! that round diamond is making me swoon! that’s my vote! Keep your grandma’s heirloom for a RHR.

I much prefer the pear, but that is just my personal style. There’s no reason you can’t wear both, keep grandmas ring for an RHR if you prefer the rose gold ring.

I wear my Nana’s right on my right hand. Then again, I did not have the option to use it for my engagement since I did not get it until she passed away. If given the choice, I probably would’ve used her ring. However, her ring is very similiar to what I ended up picking out – round brilliant with baguette side stones (mine is round brilliant with pave shared prong band)
Of those you posted, I do like the round one better, but the meaning behind your grandma’s ring can’t be replicated. Could you perhaps add a halo to make it more your style?

I would wear the round as a engagement ring and the pear as a RHR!

Thank you ladies! Any thoughts on the size of the round on my hand? It doesn’t look too big? Appearance wise I much prefer the round, but I love my grandma’s ring for its sentimental value and it’s much more “low key” appearance wise on my hand.

bclaytonsc : I like the second one better. I am not fond of pear shaped rings either. Have it made into a necklace or a broach so you can remember your lovely grandmother.

The pear looks more classic. The rose gold looks too trendy.

Why can’t you use your gramma pear on the twist/infinity band?

Definitely nothing wrong with keeping your grandmother’s ring as a RHR and getting the engagement ring you truly want 🙂 You will still be honoring her by wearing it, whether you’re wearing it as your engagement ring or not.

I think I prefer the pear on your finger. It looks nicer on your hands. But you have to know what you like!

I would reset the pear! Then you have the best of both worlds!
