As some of you may know, in my culture we invite only the closest family/friends to the ceremony, so it is usually no more than half the entire guest list. I expect to have a maximum of 60 people for my ceremony, but it might be closer to 50. We have reserved a hotel for our venue. Both the ceremony and the reception will be taking place in the hotel. The reception will be in a ballroom which is quite large (just over 4,000 sq feet). The ceremony is going to be in a elegant room on a different floor, and the room is 1,000 sq feet with the capacity to fit 80 people.
In reality, when I looked at the ceremony room, it seemed like it would comofortably fit around 40 people, and 50-60 could feel a little intimate. I asked the WC at the hotel if we could have the ceremony in one of the other ballrooms, but she believes it mightbe too large for our ceremony and that we could feel a little “lost” in that room. I can see why she thinks that way, and I’m stuck deciding between a room that might be too small and one that is too big.
So, which is better: the room that accomodates 50 people and is on the smaller side, or a ballroom which is definitely bigger and will fit many more people but could feel a bit too big at 4,000 sq feet.
I would love your opinions on this!
