My fiancé and I decided we’re going to get everything done in one shot – we’re going to elope to our honeymoon destination! We’d like to possibly go to one of the Sandals resorts but we can’t figure out which one yet. I think we might like Ochi – it looks like they have some great restaurants and the nightlife looks decent, plus we’re fans of watersports, ziplining, biking, etc. All of them seem reasonably priced and the all-inclusive thing is definitely a plus.
Any recommendations on which one to check out or avoid? We’d be going in April 2017.

None of them. Go to a Couples Resort instead! More bang for your buck. We went to Tower Isle but San Souci always gets great reviews. Both are in Ocho Rios. I actually can’t say anything about Sandals I’m sure they’re good too, but when I was researching for our honeymoon people who had been to both tended to rate Couples higher because everything is truly all inclusive and not dependent on which level of room you purchase. The food also consistently rated higher. Just something to think about. Happy planning!

We had our “weddingmoon” at Sandals Negril in Jamaica and loved it!

I got marrie at ochi and wouldnt recommend it. The ceremony itself was what we expected but I did not like the resort. Food was NOT good!! We had a lot of issues (fire alarms all night, no room cleaning day of the wedding, Accused of not paying at the spa) I feel like you can get a better experience at another resort.
You can check my recap for wedding pics though if you are set on the resort to get an idea on quality of th pictures.
ftr- not sure why people are so obsessive about sandals. It’s like a cult. Definitely was not impressed and wouldnt go to another one.

To add the beach at ochi is horrible!!! No room to walk and it’s really cut up. So if you like a nice beach look elsewhere!

Don’t recommend sandals. We went to whitehouse and it was beautiful, but more expensive than Mexico. The roads are also miserable in Jamaica and it’s really far from the airport. I also feel like they pay their employees pennies. At least in Mexico we could tip them. We did excellence resort in Mexico and highly recommend them over sandals.

We loved the Sandals Grand in St Lucia!

Couples Resort is a VERY good all-inclusive choice. The food was absolutely outstanding for the price point. Great health club and spa. It’s adults only which we prefer for now. We were on the same beach as Sandals (Seven Mile Beach in Negril) which seemed to be chock full of families with children. However, Sandals did look nice when we walked by. I guess it depends what kind of vibe you are going for.

- Wedding: April 2016 - Country Club
oleander12: Sandals is adults only. Beaches is owned by the same people and is family oriented, maybe that was the one you were looking at.

No Sandals! We researched extensively and settled on Iberostar Grand Rose Hall. Quiet beach, all inclusive, adults-only, brilliant shows every night. Amazing. For 10 nights we paid just under $8,000 CAD with flights included. Everyone from the US that we spoke to paid significantly less than that. All room levels have a butler, we got a pool-side bed every day, the food was beyond incredible. I really couldn’t be more complimentary!
For a bit of a different trip – many have suggested Couples. However, we spoke to a lot of couples when in Jamaica, and everyone who had been to either Sandals, Couples, or Excellence resorts said they would not be going anywhere else other than Iberostar if the option was there! So definitely check it out 🙂
We are booking our trip back to Jamaica for our one-year anniversary and will be going back to Iberostar. It was so incredible.

We honeymooned at Sandals Whitehouse in Jamaica. Amazing!!! Many weddings were going on there when we were there. Great food. Had the best massage of my life there. You are going to get different opinions but I think Sandals is great for the price. Very classy place! Also, I like that they actually filter their own water. Other resorts probably do too, but I have heard so many people getting sick at other resorts.

We just booked the LaSource in Grenada for April 2017! Were doing a week in the butler level one bedroom suite with private infinity pool for $7k for 7 days, but there are options that cost half.
We picked Grenada for a few reasons: there’s direct flights on our fav airline from NYC, the resort is close to the airport so not a lot of travel time, Grenada is stunning and not super full of tourists yet, and the resort is only 1-2 years old and has incredible reviews. It was also slightly more affordable than the St Lucia resorts for the butler room with a private pool.
We did not Look at Couples bc we didn’t want to go to Jamaica.

After more research and talking to friends who have honeymooned to Jamaica, we’re now thinking Sandals Royal Plantation. No kids, all rooms at Royal Plantation have butler service, we’ve heard it’s lively during the day and quiet at night, and we can also take a 5-minute shuttle ride over to Ochi if we want more of the night life. I checked out Couples and while people said lovely things about it, their website made the resorts seem kind of…boring.
We live near the beach (I actually work one block from the ocean!) so sitting on the beach isn’t really what I’m going for on my honeymoon. We’re looking to get a lot of watersports in, maybe some biking, with occasional pampering. It looks like we’ll be able to plan 6 nights and our flights for under $5k! Woohoo! Now we just need to plan the eloping part of it…
Thanks for all the help, everyone.
