Both are pretty but I prefer the color since you are both looking at the camera.

His face is partly covered in the b&w one, so I would go with the colored one

i like the colored version because the text layout fits into the photo so much better.  there’s something about the blue 3D bubble font on the B&W version that bothers me.  I like how it says “we’re getting married!” but i think you need to fit “save the date” in there as well, and maybe make your website address more prominent.  if it’s tucked into the corner people might miss it.  they look good tho!  i love the black and white photo on it’s own, and think it could work very well for a STD, it’s just the text layout that’s not working imo.

Yes, the color.  Both of your faces are looking at the camera.

@kfricke89: i love how you specifically state “which one do you prefer, understanding that we do not necessarily HAVE to have our faces showing and all anyone comments on is that the color one has your faces showing.  there is no reason your faces have to be showing, what’s important is a well composed photo paired with a great text layout.  period.

I think number two is a much more flattering photo of both you and Fiance.  I love the color of your blouse and how it blends with the wall.  Much prefer #2!!

I love the black and white – don’t think it’s boring all….the background is spectacular.

yeah, try taking the bubble effect away.  making it pop with the color is a good idea tho.  i think it’s the “floating text” thing that bothering me too, what if you made the font size a bit smaller, maybe combined two fonts and played with the spacing, and added a frame?  kind of like the image below, except all blue.  if this was placed in the same spot as your current text, with a clear background so the photo shows behind it, it would look really good!

this was the back of a postcard STD a girl posted on a SMP forum, here is the front of the card below.  Look, no faces! 😉  I designed my STD’s too, I made mine a postcard as well.  I posted it on the bee here earlier this morning if you’d like to take a peek.  It’s comment #6.

i lovethe top one most probably because i am a sucker for black and white photos. but i do think that the text should be more flowy.

like in the second one it just fits better but in the first it just looks like you plppoed it wherever it would fit
