For the end of June, I’d definitely go with nude…or gold even. Also, since you have short dresses, you may want to think about telling to get a specific type of shoe…like a peep toe. Since you can see the whole shoe, it may look weird with some girls in strapy shoes, others in pumps, and others in peep toe. The dissimilarity would annoy and distract me, but that’s just me 🙂

I voted champagne/nude because for summer wedding, that feels more summery to me. HOWEVER, what I would actually do, is go around and ask all the girls how many of them already do have black shoes/already do have nude shoes, and go from there! Surprisingly, I myself do not have a black shoe appropriate for a wedding! (Well, or a nude shoe 😛 I have tons of other shoes though!!!) But you might be surprised by how many of the girls do or don’t have the color.

And, both of those are good staples for a woman to have in her closet, nude shoes are very “in” right now! I’ve been meaning to purchase black shoes and I’m going to be in a friends wedding in August, and she has decided on black shoes. I’m actually pretty excited because now I “have” to buy them 😉 So good choice on either shoe color! You sound very considerate for your girls!!!! Also, you can certainly decide on no wedges.

I would ask what most girls have, and go with that to not have extra costs for them

Are you ok with flats, since you are outlawing wedges?  I hate heels and wouldn’t want to wear them ever ever…  (I like the nude.)

The only problem with champagne is there are many different shades out there. It could look off if they all pick a different shoe.

I would also specify which fabric you want the shoes to be; satin, leather etc.

If you go with champagne maybe request that the shoes be dyable so that you can all have them dyed together in the shade that you want?

@HeLovesDogs:  i know how tricky it is! I’m in the same boat but with Hot pink.  Because there are so many shades of hot pink, I decided to let my girls pick their own shoes as long as they are dyable and they have them by the end of July.  I’m going to have them dyed all together so they match as much as possible.  Afterwards if the girls don’t care to have hot pink shoes they can dye them again black or dark purple.

I’m not sure where you live but here in Ottawa there are shoe repair places in all the big shopping malls and they can do the dying in any colour you want.  You just bring in the swatch you’re trying to match and they will try and get as close as possible to that colour.

I must admit, I like the black shoes!

You ladies should check out dyemyshoes.com….. you can send them swatches of the color you want and they will dye your shoes for less than $20 p/p (when I used them it was $17.50  I think….)  We had our shoes dyed for my sister’s wedding and they came out beautiful!! i would definitely recommend the service.
