I am hoping you guys can help me out with picking shoes for my maids. The wedding will be outside and held at a farm. The receptions is in a barn. Not a wedding barn. A real barn. The girls can’t wear heels because they willsink into the ground.
This is the type of dress they are wearing, although theirs will be strapless and at the nee or above:
My original thought was boots but that has become very predictable. However, they are still cute. My one hesitation is that the boys ar not wearing boots but I guess that doesn’t really matter. Here is the boot:
And here is the peep toe flat. The lace, natural fabrics and tiny bit of bling fit well with our rustic-vintage theme. My only hesitation is having them in open toes in a barn and also that the lace will probably be trashed by the end of the night.
So what do you guys think?

I’m not loving either of these options. What about some sort of closed toe wedge? Or just let your maids pick their own shoes?

Hi! I agree with MrsRomo… I don’t love any of the options: Boots could be TOO much seen and most of all, they are not confy to go all day long! Remember that they will have a lot to do that day for you and at least they should be able to wear confortable shoes as much as possible..
If you still want them to keep tall and slender, maybe the wedges are an option. Here are several open wedges examples…
… but if the place is really a barn, maybe you still allow them to wear closed options…
But if this is really, really a barn, maybe wearing confy flats could be better for them:
I hope you may like some of the ideas… and it could be of help!

I’d go with the boots, as anything pretty and delicate such ad lace will get grubby and wrecked.

@mrsromo: Letting them pick their own may be the best option. Being the control freak that I am, I never considered it. FI really loves the boots though so we will have to mull it over for a bit, I guess.

i love the boots and i think girls look so cute with dresses and boots.its a barn wedding go for the boots 🙂

Please no boots! I like that flat peep toe idea. The girls will suffer in high heels! But get ones without a pattern or only a relly decent one.

This dress colour is very similar to my bridesmaids shoes. Silver seems to go very well. I would go with a silver wedge if they can’t wear heels.

I know the dresses are knee-length so their shoes will be visible, but, please let them pick their own shoes. They are grown women (I assume). I was in a wedding last year and the bride picked our shoes and they were hideous and uncomfortable and we all complained the entire time.

@gelaine22: I just tried to let the maids pick their own shoes and one of them informed me that this was tacky. I will neve rwin with this stupid stuff. I don’t understand why people can’t just shut up and wear the outfit. It’s one day. My day. Not theirs.
