I think it depends on how you like to part your hair.

In Hawaii a flower on the left indicates someone is taken.  A flower on the right says you’re free.  So if you’re getting married with an island theme, you should put it on the right.

I wore two flowers on my left side, but that was mostly because it flowed better with my hairstyle.  The flowers aren’t visible in all of our photos since my right side faced the crowd/camera at the church, and I ended up with my left side to the groom in a lot of our couple portraits.  So just think about what works for your hairstyle and if you tend to hold your head at certain angles, if you tend to hang on one side or another of your groom in pics, etc.

@mightysapphire – wouldn’t you then have to switch the flowers after the wedding?  (Like flipping your graduation tassle!)  Aren’t you technically already "taken" on your wedding day, even before the wedding?

If you have a side part you could have it on the side of your part! I never thought about this before. I might just have the hairstylist pick.
