Helping friend select her center stone. In your opinion which simulant is more diamond like….very important for her.

Don’t try to pass a simulant off as a diamond. That’s so tacky.
I’m not sure what a Haro Gem is, cz? Cz is the most diamond like but moissanite,(amora gem, forever one, forever brilliant ECT) is the strongest of the diamond simulants. Cz will scratch, moissanite won’t. It could crack though or get the rainbow stain thing.
If she wants a diamond she should get a diamond. Pretending to have one for whatever reason is shallow and tacky.
This type of question usually causes all kinds of people to come out and say that nothing is like a diamond. However, obviously there are all kinds of white/ clear stones available that are just as nice or even nicer because they are a fraction of the cost. I have a white sapphire which I’m very happy with. It has an excellent cut. Cut I feel is everything regardless of what stone you decide on. And I’m a firm believer the buyer should view many stones in person before making a choice. When I saw a white sapphire in person I knew that was my stone of choice. Do not listen to the ‘advise’ that a cz is the only ‘fake’ stone good enough to use while waiting for a diamond. Mossys are beautiful in their own right. As I stated I really like my white sapphire. And zircons a quite beautiful and comparable to diamonds, they make man made ones also which are flawless and many shapes. Hope this helps.
Is your friend planning to lie when asked about her ring? Or does she just want the closest possible so that it looks close to her and it’s unlikely she will be asked but has no intention on lying? I think clarifying that will aid in some of the responses.
Fwiw, if a friend or coworker showed me their white sapphire, moissy, lab diamond, diamond, crystal or cubic zerconia ring it’s very unlikely I would guess it’s anything other than a diamond. They are all pretty and sparkly and white and very few people are going comment or care more than “pretty!” If I did guess that it wasn’t a diamond, I wouldn’t care enough to ask or care regardless….unless she was trying to lie about it.
My apologies….maybe I phrased my initial statement wrong. She isnt neccesarily looking to pass it off as a diamond. While I doubt that she plans to go around shouting “hey this is moissnaite” unsolicited, I don’t beleive she’ll be dishonest if someone asks.
I think she wants something less “splintered”. We noticed that some of the older round cut facets appear splintery – is that a word – under certain lighting. From my understanding these splinters are absent in the newer cuts, thus making it more diamond like.
I guess the better question would be…..which of these cuts would minimize the splinters most?
I’ve seen some mossainite on here that is truly breathtaking. I don’t think it can be passed off but, she really should take a look they are beautiful! Or she can get a smaller carat size of lab diamondto make it cheaper. There’s one cut that has a bigger face, but I don’t know which that is, someone on here will know.
But that’s all I can contribute! Tell your friend not to stress out too much, there are plenty of beautiful gemstones out there.

Don’t know why it posted twice!
