    I think it’s a great idea.  I’d be happy if someone gave me a heads up that it was going to be on grass.

    “reception to take place on the lawn. . .please plan your footwear needs accordingly”

    I like what GroovyHippieChick said. People may still show up in stilettos, but that’s their call. I would appreciate the heads up, and would show up in a wedge vs. a heel.

    I don’t see how it could be considered rude to warn your guests about the ground conditions and advise them to dress accordingly. This isn’t one of those “her shoes are stealing my thunder” situations. You don’t want your guests falling over! Perfectly acceptable statement to make. After all, if you were getting married in an ice bar, you’d advise them to bring a sweater, even in July, wouldn’t you?

    I’d appreciate the heads up. I have wrecked so many pair of shoes on ceremonies held on grass and not just high heels either. Depending on the fabric of the flats, the moisture sometimes stains the fabric like suede.
