@hidingpearl i just came across your post and i am also a fan of the oval on you! and i also love the idea of just a solitaire with no halo! i dont know your age, but i am turning 31 in july and getting married in august, and i just really think that the solitaire is something that i wont be sick of in 10 years. the halo is i feel like i will look at in a few years and think that it doesnt fit my age anymore or that it will be too “blingy” or “loud” for my age. but if you do go with the halo and end up feeling that way down the road, you can also have it taken off.

also, i have the same “picky problem” that you have. :/ my wedding is in 4 months and i still do not have my ring! i know exactly what i want, but i just cant find it ANYWHERE! i should have just had it made, but i was under the impression that it wouldnt be difficult to find and that i could locate the setting online or in a store and just go that route but it seems to be impossible to find!

so anyway, after i read your post i thought that the setting i was looking for would also look good with what you had described wanting. i might go overboard with the pictures haha but i hopefully i could be of some help to you! and if you know anything about the rings i’m posting please let me know! ๐Ÿ™‚

and these next pics are of the setting that i am on the hunt for but cant find! i want it to be a slightly elongated cushion with this setting (side diamonds or “halo” underneath so it can only on been seen when looked at from the sides, not from the top angle) and with a thin plain band.

this last one is almost exactly is except it doesnt have the diamonds/pave on the stems or on the underneath halo.

    sorry for all the pictures!!

jMariie:  Those pics are gorgeous – having just gone down the path of custom-made, I can highly recommend it as you get EXACTLY what you want! After doing masses of research I decided Whiteflash had the best reviews so I had planned to go with WhiteFlash as you can see their stones online and they were great with fast replies to my email queries.  I only ended up going locally as the jeweller had a 40% off sale so I could get the stone I wanted at a reasonable price (Australian diamond prices are ridiculously high).  The designer took 2 weeks to come back with the CAD pics, a week to tweak my small changes, then 4 weeks to manufacture.  They were a smaller company though so i expect WhiteFlash or James Allen to be faster.

Here’s what my CAD was then the final product:

Ovals and pears are my favorite, and they both look stunning on you.  ๐Ÿ™‚

AussieEncore:  oooh i love it! and i definitely agree that going custom made is certainly a much better route considering you get to make any changes along the way and see it exactly as it will be before agreeing to anything. our wedding is in a little less than 3 months so right after the wedding i plan on starting my custom setting! i will post pics once she’s finished! ๐Ÿ™‚

nightowl:  thank you! the more i look at that setting, the more impatient i become! haha what size ring do you wear? i am completely with you on the indecisiveness! i have changed my mind so many times over the years, but i keep going back to the elongated cushion solitatire! i bet you will end up going with an oval in the long run, since it seems to be what your mind keep going back to! good luck on your decision making, let me know what you end up deciding on!
