Coconut oil and Purcellin Bio Oil… Though I got stretch marks when I grew 8 inches in a year in middle school (butt, thighs, breasts), so I’m not holding out hope. 22 weeks and so far, so good…

I’ve been using Bio Oil and Mama Mio Tummy Butter. I already had stretch marks from growth spurts but honestly I think they are actually fading a little since I’ve been slathing on the bio oil to prevent new ones!

Debbie Downer Alert!
I think the question for me is what didn’t I use? I was lotioned up with something every single second of my pregnancy. My mom and my sister have 6 kids between them (all 8-10lb babies) and neither had a single stretch mark on them. I gave birth to a little 6 pounder and walked out of the hospital looking like I was in a cage fight with a hungry ass tiger. Sigh.
I had my DS 10 years ago and I STILL use Bio Oil on the daily for my stretch marks. They faded over time, but they are still plenty visible. It is what it is!

As other PP said, it is mostly genetics, but it never hurts to prevent or at least try to prevent some right? I use oils such Vitamin E oil from Walgreens, Bio Oil and Tummy oil from Mama Mio. I am only 21 weeks, I dont have anything yet, but I am not out of the woodworks yet, y’a know. My mom never had them, so hopefully I will get as fortunate 🙂 GL !

None. I don’t believe they work anyways. I haven’t gotten any at 32 weeks so not anticipating them. Neither my mom or sister got them. I do use Palmer’s cocoa butter though because my skin is dry.

I’ve read that the earlier you start using the creams the better they work.
And my phyisican also said that a more rapid weight gain during pregnancy cause more stretch marks. She recommended gaining weight slowly to prevent as many stretch marks as you can. Which helps understand why we get stretch marks during our rapid change in puberty.

My Mum has lots and I sadly anticpate getting more. I already have some from weight gain/loss some years ago. I’m seeing a couple of new ones starting which is depressing. I’m using Dr Hauschka’s Blackthorn Body Oil every morning on my breasts, thighs and tummy. It’s for preventing stretch marks in pregnancy. I’m only 11 weeks and I’ve been using it every day since week 7. Before that I used Palmers but as it was coming into summer here it was just too heavy and greasy for me.

Ive been using Palmers Cocoa Butter Lotion since 4 weeks…Im 34 weeks 4 days today and no stretch marks yet! *crosses fingers* I recommend drinking 80 oz of water a day! I think that is what is fending them off for me! Also, my hubby always says dont scratch your belly…its an old wives tale that if you scratch you get stretch marks! Im sure thats just bc youre skin is dry so keeping it well hydrated with any sort of lotion wi help!

@Cory_loves_this_girl: I hear ya. I’m only 27 weeks and I’ve had tonnes of stretch marks for as long as I can remember. I can’t remember what week they showed up, but they are here in all their glory 🙁 Sometimes they make me sad and my husband keeps saying “they make fancy cream”, but I know that it is genetics, so what’s the point in spending money in something that will be just as effective as regular moisturizer.

@cora_123: Can you suggest where I can pick up both Bio Oil and Momma Mio Tummy Butter? Are they carried at places like Walgreens?

I used Palmer’s Cocoa Butter. I thought I was in the clear since most of my pregnancy I was stretch mark free, but in the last few weeks (like seriously, the last 2 weeks) they made their appearance. I don’t think the Palmer’s actually did anything.

@Treejewel19: Bio Oil you can find pretty much anywhere, Walgreens, Target, Walmart, etc.
Mama Mio I ordered online direct from their website (they have coupons for first time orders and you get a “lucky” a free gift with purchase) and then I’ve gotten 2 more bottles as gifts, I believe some Destination Maternity stores actually sell it in there store.

The genetics thing is interesting because my mom and grandmother didn’t get stretch marks. But I have some already from gaining and losing weight a few years ago! So what the Hell? LOL!
