  • poll: Which cake design should I pick?!

Cake one - Classically classic, with dots

Cake two - Similar, but incorporating a lace pattern

    Cake three - Buttercream finish

    Something else - will explain

I love the buttercream cake, however given how hot it’s been in Melbourne recently, I would be worried about how well it would hold up in March.  If your baker thinks it’ll be fine though, then that’s the one I’d go with; otherwise I’d go for cake 2.

@goingtotherooftopoflove:  I voted 3. For some reason, I prefer when a cake doesn’t look perfect. Some cakes are so perfect they don’t even look real, lol ! But I think the last one is gorgeous, looks good, goes with your caketopper, and the buttercream flavor ? Mmm mmmm!

@goingtotherooftopoflove:  If you are worried about buttercream in the heat, you could always ask for white chocolate ganache. Looks very similar, but should hold together a bit better f you have a freakishly hot day.

ETA: I just checked the long term forecast. On your date, Melbourne is supposed to be 16-24c and sunny!

I love the sloppy spatula look, that’s what we had! I love that 4th picture the most, with the way the flowers are placed on it and all the flowers behind it, rather than sitting alone on a table as most wedding cakes do. Also for the “less perfect” option you have another frosting option – whipped cream! So much lighter and yummier!

@goingtotherooftopoflove:  I like the look and taste of buttercream best. The others look too neat for my taste. Like another poster said, the buttercream looks perfectly imperfect. 🙂
