I picked steak and chicken just because I know a lot of people that don’t like fish, especially salmon.

I picked chicken and fish. What about your vegetarian guests? Just thinking of them with that selection in mind.

Darling Husband would eat steak and I would eat chicken so that is what I picked! I know very few people who eat fish.

@brox: Do vegetarians eat fish? I was under the impression vegetarians didn’t eat any animals/meat.

I voted chicken and salmon because IMO steak is not well-suited to being prepared en masse (too much variation in temperature preferences).

How good is your caterer with fish?  We were going to do steak and fish (my fiance HATES chicken and absolutely refuses to serve it…) but we noticed that the fish at the caterer’s tasting wasn’t as consistent as most of the other dishes.  So we’re doing steak and vegetarian.

Maybe it’s because I live with a vicious chicken hater, but I would go with steak and salmon IF the caterer does a good job with salmon.  Otherwise, steak and chicken.  Or steak and vegetarian.

I would do steak and chicken. I actually prefer fish, but a lot of people don’t like salmon, even fish eaters.

@MissTatas: Some do and some don’t. We had a salmon dish available to those who didn’t like red meat or chicken. My vegetarian friend (who eats fish) was happy about it.

I guess steak and chicken is the standard.  I love salmon, and I’m surprised by how many people don’t like it. I can eat it all the time, even raw!

@brox: You learn something new every day! One of my coworkers is a vegetarian but I only ever see her eat veggies and occasionally tofu. I guess I’ve never really thought about it enough to ask her!

I picked steak and salmon because a lot of vegetarians are willing to eat fish and steak is the more desirable option between steak and chicken.

If they are willing to eat fish, they are actually not vegetarians, but pescatarians.

People often like to cover up their picky eating habits by saying they are vegetarians. I knew someone who claimed to be a vegetarian because “I only eat chicken”. Uhm, no. You are just a picky eater. She wouldn’t even touch most vegetables.

Being a real vegetarian means putting a lot of thought into your nutrition, knowing your nutrients, and eating a variety of different foods.
