I was wondering what shape, type, cut, etc. most resembles a diamond?
I’ve read enough posts here to know that a lot of you will say that moissanite is a unique gem that’s beautiful in it’s own right, and I don’t disagree. But I am looking for a diamond like appearance. I ordered an f1 hearts and arrows 8mm round. Was that a good choice, in regards to diamond similarity?
I’ve been researching moissanite and the new Neo Moissanite are supposed to be cut just like a diamond and reduce the double refraction of moissanite. I don’t think the shape makes a difference. The Neo have the most comprehensive warranty, including changes in optical appearance and damage to the stone. Edited to add I don’t think you can go wrong with the h & a cut. I think you’ll be very happy with it.
I had an 8mm Hearts and arrows moissanite and it had a very nice cut. It did stIll have a lot of intense rainbow sparkles and the color was almost too white for my taste. But overall I’d say they’re pretty diamond like. I ended up selling it and purchased a crushed ice oval harro gem moissanite, and it is by far the most diamond like moissanite I’ve seen thus far in terms of fancy shaped moissanite. But like the previous poster said you really can’t go wrong with a Hearts and arrows cut, they are beautiful!
I would say the hearts and arrow shapes are most diamond like. If you are interested in old cuts like antique cushions, OEC rounds, there are a few people cutting moissanite like that and it’s beautiful. These people are also cutting some pretty diamond like ovals, and emeralds.
