My dress is the Rivini Serena, which I got through CSB. I need to add straps in order to cover my bra straps but I’m not sure which design would look the best. I’m aiming for a vintage, old Hollywood look and I will carry a brooch bouquet of moderate size.
I am debating whetever i should add regular straps or a halter strap. The dress is quite low in the back, which I love and I don’t want to take away from that. However the cups has a tendency to stand out a little at the top and I believe pulling them from the side like with a halter, would cause the fabric to stand out even more.
Also I really really love the lace and doesnät want to take away from the fabric too much with my choice
Here are some inspiration pics:

Idea with regular straps
Then the next thing is to decide upon embellishments. I like thin crystal straps like
But also lace appliques like the Enzoani Diana. However it could be tricky find a color that would match the dress
If you choose the halter strap, should it be thin like the crystal strap or a little wider, maybe an inch or so?
Finally I’m also considering adding some type of sahs. Either a satin one with a brooch like:
Or a crystal sash like Enzoani Cheyenne
I wonder which sash you think looks best with which type of strap.
Hope everything makes sense

Beautiful concept! I love the idea of the added sash – either would work great with your dress. As for straps…is there a reason other than to cover your bra straps that you want to add straps to the dress? I ask because you could get a strapless bra and not have to worry about this alteration at all. BUT that being said, I think in my head i’m picturing that the lace straps would work best. Have you thought about the sleeves from a bolero?

If you can find a pattern that matches I’d say go lace, and definitely normal straps rather than halter. I really like the beaded sash (the second one) with your dress.

I would prefer totally strapless but since the dress has a low back, I would need a low back strapless bra. I’m not sure that would stay in place and I would be really afraid that it would drop to the floor Chicken fillets doesn’t give enough oumpfh but I could perhaps consider sew the entire bra into the dress. Straps would be the easiest choice but it is maybe not the solution that will look the best.
I will do everything myself so there is a limit to my skills. Straps no problem, entire bra big maybe.

Actually ladies, I’m now almost certain I will go with the halter strap. I pinned a satin band very rapidly as a halter and I really liked what I saw. The band flowed very nicely with the skape of the dress and enhanced the curves better. I also thought it gave me more of a vintage feeling.
really tricky to take photos of yourself!
But I will definitely go with your choice and make it a lace strap. I will have my hair completely up and you will be able to see the lace at the neck. The dress has buttons all the way down and maybe I can find 2-3 similar ones to close the strap with.
Finally it will be so much easier to make a low back halter bra than low back with straps
