The Concordia club looks darling, but unless you have a strong preference for it, I would do the location that is able to have it on a Saturday.   I don’t think it’s strange to have it at a university you didn’t attend and I also think if you want a polka band it would be totally fine at either venue.

I have to say, I love the nostalgia of Concordia Club.  I also love that there is hardwood everywhere which would be great for dancing and the polka band!  Does the university have a dancing area?  They are both great choices. Do you have out of town guests or do you think a lot of people would decline if it’s not a Saturday wedding?

@Lemma: So you are having your ceremony & reception at your venue?  There’s no way they will do a Saturday night @ Concordia? Or maybe a Sunday?  They are both great choices. In the past when my friends had Friday weddings, I just took a half day off at work.  So possibly some people would do that, if they are able to.  School maybe will be out and help out with some decreased traffic times (but I’m in the states!).

I would go with the University Club since they are able to do a Saturday and help with all the planning.  What about incorporating some of the ideas you loved at the first venue into a wedding at the second venue? Like the polka band or food?

I would pick the University club. It looks pretty plain from the pics but all dressed up for a wedding would nice nice. You could even do some uplighting on those white walls and that outdoor patio and Saturday are the biggest perks!

@Leema, oh uplighting is just a colored light reflected on a plain wall, something like this:

That pic is bright but with the lights dimmed and it dark out, it would look really cool and contemporary. Will it be an evening reception?

The Concordia Club is beautiful, but I would go with the University Club, since it seems full service, AND you can do it on a Saturday.
