Hi!

Im new to this site!!
My fiance and I are just wrapping up venue searches and hoping to make our final decision next week on venue and date
ONe venue we really like in downtown detroit only has july 4 2015 and september 12 2015 for saturday wedding open. I am kinda leaning more torwards the July vs September…
Would that be a big deal? what are your thoughts?

will there be a firework display that you can see from your venue? If so, I chose the 4th. Both dates are really good though.

My mother’s birthday is the 4th of July. Our family always spends it together, at our beach house.

I would choose 9/12 because I personally would not want to attend a wedding on the Fourth of July.

unfortunately not – it will be downtown detroit and inside but the venue is gorgeous in my opinion and those are only two saturdays open next year!
but it is a free party with drinks food and family for our guests and casino and hotel after if they wanted on the 4th 😛
keep the comments or votes coming please i cannot decide!!

I voted for September but I would say it depends on the type of guestlist you have. If it is mostly family who you would be seeing anyway, go with the 4th. But, since the 4th of July is a big deal for you Americans I think, I think it would be a bit inconsiderate to have it on the 4th since people may have their own traditions and plans already. I’m not saying it’s not doable and that you might not be throwing an awesome party with a meaningful ceremony. But I would think you would have more declines and/or more people asking for add ons. Maybe reach out to the key figures you want there first and then decide?

I would say go with September if you really do not have an option to see fireworks. I LOVE fireworkds and would be bummed that I had to miss them

I’d choose September 12, because September is my favorite month and I love fall weddings!
LOL I didn’t even make the connection about July 4 until after I read the PPs! Yeah, for me that would give me even more reason to have it in September.

I would go with September. Weddings on holidays can be a real inconvenience on guests, especially guests with children. Plus, dont you want your anniversary to be your own special day and not a national holiday?

I vote September, I wanted that date but my SO didn’t wanna wait that long… Also July 4th can b a bit difficult to get everyone together for a wedding. Unless u do a fireworks display 🙂
