- Wedding: June 2015
Of course this is a choice me and my fiance have to make, but I’m just curious as to what you would choose based on this description.
We’re choosing a wedding planner, not for the entire planning process actually as we can do that quite well, but more for the day itself. And of course, some prep, but most of the vendors we can find ourselves. So we have specifically looked for a wedding planner who can execute the day itself without any hassle.
So we had a meeting with two wedding planners yesterday. I’ll give a short description
Wedding planner A: I instantly loved her! She looks very similar to me, just a pretty version, a pretty, sweet brunette in a cute dress (I am a brunette and was also wearing a dress haha), we instantly had a connection. I have been following her for years, admiring her work. We joked around a lot, and went through our whole wedding step by step. She already gave a lot of tips (some more useful than others), she knows our venue although she’s never done a wedding there before (but it was high on her wishlist). She knows some of our vendors already too, like our photographer. She totally saw my vision of styling. A great part of her tasks involves styling, and she has a lot of decorations at home that she can bring, even though we agreed that our style should be relatively clean and straightforward, but she totally understood my vision and gave tips of things that are on my secret Pinterest board that she didn’t even know I had. So yeah. Connection. We can make this work. Downside is that we didn’t really talk specifics, it was more like a brainstorm sessions. But she did show a detailed planning that she would make several weeks in advance. She has years of experience and won several awards in the wedding industry.
Wedding planner B: A really sweet girl, who got married last year and kept referring to her own wedding. Which I think could be good, because she’s been on the bride-side. She was more on the practical side. She had a whole list of questions that we went through, describing our vision of the wedding. We didn’t really go into the details, as again, she’ll make a whole planning a couple of weeks prior to the wedding. But she did seem more meticulous. She doesn’t have as much experience though. She also didn’t know our venue nor our photographer, but by chance she knew our DJ quite well. I did get the feeling that she cooperates more with the vendors rather than dictate them. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or not, FI said he might actually prefer someone who holds the reins. One drawback is that she didn’t really have a creative mind (she admitted to this), but is rather good at organising and planning. This means that she didn’t really know that much about styling. But if we have decorations we wish to use, she would be happy to place them at the venue on the day. But all in all, she seemed very focussed on our wedding and our wishes.
So…now I don’t know. My FI seems to have a slight preference towards one. I did too, but now I just don’t know anymore. They’re both super competent but in different ways. And I just hate that we have to disappoint one. That makes me feel so sad.
Based on these descriptions, would you have a preference? Thanks for sharing!
