We are doing a welcome picnic for everyone the day before the wedding, instead of a rehersal dinner, for about 70 people. Deciding between two choices:
Make your own sandwhich station, with a meat and cheese tray, condiments, veggie toppings. Would have to cut the veggies up.
BBQ pulled pork on a toasted bun (toast the buns at home and bring to picnic). Made in two or three slow cookers the night before. Would have to pull the pork the next morning and add sauce, cook a bit longer.
Other stuff on the menu:
Veggies with homemade hummus
Homemade spinach dip with chips and pita bread
So which would you prefer? Which would be easier?

Sandwiches for sure. Anything that allows a bit of customization is always best.

I think pulled pork is easier. Also, you don’t need to toast the buns. squishy buns are yummy with pulled pork in my opinion..
I vote for pulled pork!

@Pixienickie: i always found that pulled pork is the easiest to make and serve. i do this all of the time. it’s very little effort. you don’t even need to toast the buns, just get crusty ones cut them. do the pork with a dry rub and then offer a variety of bbq sauces (spicy, sweet, hickory, etc) on the side to add afterwards. i also find this option cheaper than getting meats and cheeses.
however, i do think sandwiches would give more variety to your guests if you offer more than 1 or 2 meats and cheeses.
i think both options would be great.

When the question is pulled pork vs anything else, the answer is always pulled pork 😉

Pulled pork is super easy and super yummy, BUT, I choose sandwiches. The reason is that will appeal to the most people, and sometimes pulled pork can cause tummy pains for sensitive people, and I always try to eat a little on the blander side when I’m out and about to avoid discomfort

Do you have any vegetarians attending? Sandwiches give them more options.

I love the BBQ idea, but do you have any veggies? make sure you have an alternative for them. And some meat eaters simply don’t like pork so maybe switching out the pork for beef brisket or pulled chicken would be more universally appealing.

I would prefer the sandwiches because I don’t eat pork – you might please more people with sandwiches.

I love your idea!! So relaxing and fun!

I like the sandwich idea more because you get to customize it, even if I like somethng like pulled pork I hate being stuck with only one option

Sandwiches. I personally don’t like pulled pork so I’d be hungry if there were no other main dish option.
