I have visited two ATL-area DB stores and they only had a few of the Fall 2011 dresses. I have to get to one of the “better” stores for a better selection. Some of the more popular Spring 2011 dresses are now available in plus sizes.
Due to a lack of time, I didn’t try any on. As I’ve said before, these are DB dresses designed by Vera Wang, not Vera Wang dresses. The fabric, construction, etc are just not going to be equivalent to a regular VW dress.
My least favorite, VW351043. This looks very different in person–I didn’t realize it had a bubble hem. The fabric is really cheap looking (I never like DB’s taffeta). It also looked to be poorly constructed.
Next is VW351065, which I liked better in person. In person, the skirt is more peplum and ballgown. In the pictures, it looks like all draping/pick ups. I’m not a fan of the natural/short waist with a sash. However, the quality is decent and it’s a classy, elegant look.
My favorite (so far) is VW351062. This style would be flattering on pretty much anyone. The embroidery has some subtle sparkle. I love the buttons all the way down the train. I don’t think the model pictures do it justice. I think it is a little overpriced at $1200 (you could do better at Casablanca, Alfred Angelo, Allure, Mori Lee or Maggie Sottero at this price point). Again, it is a traditional, elegant look.
